Geotagging Recommendations?

I am going to Rome next month and was interested in trying to geotag my images. Does anyone have any recommendations for hardware and/or software? I'll be shooting with a Canon dSLR and processing on a Mac.

Thanks in advance...

Somebody was telling me about a software package they knew of that synched your images to your GPS via the clocks in each device. Obviously the clocks need to be synched in each first, but it sounded like a cool solution. Not sure if this is it, but a quick Google search turned this up:

If your camera has an SD card you can get a new model of Eye-fi card that will upload and geotag your images straight out of the camera.

I have been pretty pleased with the program HoudaGeo.
I use it with gpx files from my garmin gps to code my files.

The Eye-fi cards don't really tag the images with precise location information since it only works based on the mapping of the wi-fi hotspot that you are using, not actual gps coordinates

You're shooting Canon so this won't help you, but for any Nikon users with a similar geotagging desire:

Fwiw, some photogs have gotten in touch with the manfr and had special versions of the dawntech product made for their cameras. Not likely you will have enough time to do something like that before your trip, but maybe for in the future?!?

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. I found this article about Mac geotagging very helpful:

From reading a zillion links, it looks like the Houdah software is probably the way to go. For the actual GPS logger, there doesn't seem to be a clearcut winner. Houdah seems to like the Wintec WBT-201 but there seem to be many which support the formats that Houdah's software supports. Any additional feedback on specific hardware devices would be appreciated.

I am thinking I'd like to geotag my vacation later this month and had a few questions:

-- Suggestions of GPS' to get/avoid?

-- Software suggestions for Windows geotagging to use/avoid?
-- I was thinking about using Microsoft Pro Photo Tools 2 – has anyone used it?

Thanks!

Ended up with a DG-100: GlobalSat DG-100 GPS Data Logger (got mine from Amazon for ~$70) - seems like it works ok.

If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows Vista, or Window 7, you'll need to get a USBSer driver from Prolific's website.
