Hard drives for dobro 1.5 tb seagates?

My lacie 1.5 terabyte hd just died for my backups. I am thinking of getting a drobo, any reason not to get 1.5 tb segates for it or should I stick to the 1 tb model Newegg has the 1.5 fairly cheap . I was going to get 3 1.5 tb as opposed to 4 1 tb models . David

I would say that if you know you absolutely need that much storage space for now and the near future, then get the 1.5's -- the prices for the 1.5's are only about 10% higher per gig than the 1TB's so not a huge penalty for the advantage of future-proofing.

I don't want to scare you, but if it were me I'd wait until Seagate updates the firmware...

Seagate will replace the drives if there are any issues. They are very good about such things.
