    New Sony CMOS sensor

    Very interesting

Question is who will be the first to use it.
Photography is all about experimentation and without it you will never learn art.

I love it how competition arrives in what many thought was a Canon owned market..first Nikon and now Sony..and hopefully soon a similar if not better chip sourced by Leica for the R.

    Re: New Sony CMOS sensor

I don't see Sony benefitting much from using this sensor for their own cameras only, their pro system is just not there.

So this press release certainly leaves the field open for speculation. There have been Nikon rumors about a 24MP D3x around for more than a year. Pentax also has some truly outstanding lenses to match such a high resolution sensor.

Photosite size is just under 6 um which is about the same as 12 MP in DX format, which presumably is the resolution most new lens designs target.
