C1 Pro generated JPGs from S2 DNG files do not open properly in Photoshop

Hi all,

I do face the following issue with JPG and TIFF files being exported from Leica S2 DNG files in C1 Pro v9 and v10. They are not seen/recognized in Photoshop (older and latest versions) as JPGs or TIFFs but as DNGs and as such are opened via ACR. This does not happen in other software, e.g. Affinity, iPhoto, Luminar, On1 etc. All of these apps do recognize those JPG and TIFF files properly.

Any advice would be very welcome. Thank you.

Those files are recognized as "JPEG/TIFF with settings" (not as DNG). It seems that C1 adds metadata to the generated JPEGs and TIFFs and the default configuration of PS/ACR is to open those files in ACR.

If you want to avoid this step and open those files directly in PS, then you have to go to the ACR preferences and change the "JPEG and TIFF Handling" options (as shown in the attached screen capture.

The default configuration is "Automatically open JPEGs (TIFFs) with settings". Change it to "Disable JPEG (TIFF) support".

Thanks very much for this hint.

This works well for the latest Photoshop version, but unfortunately not for older versions like CS3 and CS5. And it doesn't work in Photoshop Elements v15... At least I cannot find the proper menus to change settings. And it isn't related to converted Leica S2 files only, converted Pentax 645D files are affected as well.

Any ideas?

Regards, Udo
