Rainbow Cherry Tomatoes by John Ngai, on Flickr IQ4 150 | Zeiss 5.6/120 S-Planar | f/5.6 | 30-image focus stack I saw these lovely cherry tomatoes at the local produce market this weekend, and just couldn't resist... John

    Hasselblad Superachromat 350/5.6 CFE lens

Based on what I've seen from others (and in general with the other lenses in the XCD lineup) I'm guessing that the XCD135 + 1.7x will be as sharp or sharper than the 250 SA, with the added benefits of native leaf shutter and autofocus (which I've heard can be temperamental). But if you need the...

    Hasselblad Superachromat 350/5.6 CFE lens

A member just listed one for sale here on the B&S forum, but it sold within a day or two. They do come up from time to time, so suggest you keep an eye out and move quickly when you spot one. In the meantime, a 250 SA + 1.4X teleconverter (either the Hasselblad or Mutar - people claim to see a...

    Hasselblad Superachromat 350/5.6 CFE lens

I have used the 5.6/350 CF on an IQ160 (60 Mp full frame) and the 5.6/350 Tele-Superachromat on the IQ3 100 and IQ4 150 (both full frame), and Hasselblad X2D/CFV-100c (cropped). IMHO there's no contest between the two. In my experience, the original 5.6/350 suffers from quite a bit of LoCA and...

    Beware of Scammers!

Thanks, Marco. What is the smartphone app used for verification? Or does this merely involve receiving a text message with a verification code? John

    Beware of Scammers!

Same here - I just tried to set up two-factor identification but no email came. I'm not too, too stressed about it as the site does not hold any of my financial information, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯... John

    Acra-Swiss Pico Lens Mount Recommendation

Indeed, the CFV-100C is not for everybody (including you!) but just to note that it is possible to enter metadata on lens focal length, aperture, and focus distance when using adapted lenses. That said, said metadata recently seems to have gone the way of all those lost socks, as they no longer...

    500mm for HB X2D

A friend of mine has the first generation Nikkor 4/600. It's a beast and came with its own rolling case, and requires cropping ~square to avoid vignetting on the 44x33 Fuji 100. But otherwise gives lovely results. He's since moved on to the newer compact phase fresnel 800mm lens (for birding...

    500mm for HB X2D

Not the sharpest tool in the shed according to published MTF charts, may also suffer from significant CA. John

    500mm for HB X2D

    It's a beast, but Zeiss 5.6/350 Tele-Superachromat + APO 1.4XE for the win! John

    In memory of Kevin Raber

Hi Don, Well, those of us lucky enough are all getting old, it seems... In some weird way, I feel like I lost a good friend who I never actually met. It's taken me a few days to pull my thoughts together, so thanks for the prompt... With Michael Reichmann and Chris Sanderson, Kevin Raber...

Architecture photography - a proposition for the GFX 100RF

Thanks, Bill! That feature is greyed out for my Cambo, I think also for the Alpa bodies that have X-Y shift. But yes, it does work fine for the STC so that's an easy enough work-around. John

Architecture photography - a proposition for the GFX 100RF

Wait… There’s a shift scale in Artist’s Viewfinder? I don’t see this in mine. What version are you us8ng? John

    Fun with MF images 2025

Lovely image(s), Ed. I also prefer version one, not so much because I object to a human included for scale, but because of perspective: the size and placement of the figure draws my eye toward the foreground more than it provides scale (and it's pretty big, too). I think a (smaller- appearing)...

Love that "bottomless" portafilter - there's a special feeling of accomplishment from watching the crema-laden brew coalesce into one unified stream. John

    Fun with MF images 2025

Thanks, Matt! It’s time to pull your 350 SA off the shelf and put it to some good use! Mine had been sitting in its case for far too long so the full moon was the motivation I needed to set it free! John
