A big 'thumb up' for the Arca-Swiss' R&D team

Glad you like it. With my "small" sensor (33x44mm) in vertical position, and my 127mm lens, I can use the maximal shift available for the F-Universalis, which is 25mm on each side. If you do the math, you will notice that this 44x83mm image has a diagonal which is only slightly larger than the...

A big 'thumb up' for the Arca-Swiss' R&D team

Please be aware that manufacturing a special lens plate can be very expensive. The lens plates they built for me are based on an adapter they found on the market for the Mamiya RZ67 and an extension tube Rob had suggested for the Mamiya N lenses. In case they need to develop a special mount for...

A big 'thumb up' for the Arca-Swiss' R&D team

Thank you Rob. I will certainly share my findings as I move forward on the learning curve. One thing is absolutely clear in my mind and that is that this small Apo-Componon shown above is an outstanding lens. It's sharp from center to borders and does not show distorsions. Impressive. I had the...

A big 'thumb up' for the Arca-Swiss' R&D team

It's to activate the shutter cocking. Using the "T" position on the lens allows you to have an appropriate aperture, but Arca-Swiss provided with a simpler way to force the lens to close to the selected aperture using a simple adhesive metal plate to keep the aperture lever of the lens closed.

A big 'thumb up' for the Arca-Swiss' R&D team

I would like to send a big 'thumb up' for the Arca-Swiss' R&D team (a one man show named Julien) for the development of special lens plates... Following Rob's advice and guidance, I have ordered an F-Universalis some weeks ago. I have, at the time of order, requested a special lens plate to...

What is Fuji next "WOW" product?

Looks like they are aiming at the sports photography market: 5th Generation GFX? 5th generation GFX? “Unfortunately, we cannot mention our plans for future cases. But as you can imagine, now that we are in the 5th generation, we will of course continue to invest in the development of the GFX...

Using Schneider-Kreutznach Makro-Iris Apo-Componon lenses on a digital view camera

Hi Rob, Thanks very much for this insightful response. The Apo-Componon 90mm I have purchased is -0024 like yours. I could not really test it last week-end as it was not properly fitting the 39mm lens holder and scotch taping was not accurate enough ;). I have found the RAF adapter which is...

Using Schneider-Kreutznach Makro-Iris Apo-Componon lenses on a digital view camera

OK. It seems that the M39 adapter is what they call Leica in their price list. Sorry about this request :-)

Using Schneider-Kreutznach Makro-Iris Apo-Componon lenses on a digital view camera

I remember @rdeloe having mentioned that Schneider-Kreutznach Apo-Componon Makro-Iris 60 and 90mm were good options for use on digital view cameras like Cambo Actus or Arca-Swiss F-Universalis. I noticed that Makro-iris lenses are supplied by Schneider-Kreutznach for industrial applications in...

A 'rookie's' feedback about his very first experience with a view camera: the Cambo Actus G and Fuji GFX

Thanks @rob for answering. I had the opportunity to play with the Actus MV at the dealer's yesterday when bringing back the Actus G and this would be the way to go for me, were it not for the weight which is twice the weight of the Actus G... Thanks @Anwar for sharing your experience. I see we...

A 'rookie's' feedback about his very first experience with a view camera: the Cambo Actus G and Fuji GFX

My goal in attempting this experiment was to measure if the dream I had of using a view camera could be met by a positive experience in real life. GraphicArt in Bern, Switzerland, was kind enough to lent me a Cambo Actus G, with an Actar 24 and a Schneider enlarger's 80mm lens mounted on a 39mm...

    Arca-Swiss F-Universalis working review

Hi Rob, I just want to stop by and say hello. And thank you, as your contributions, here and on dpreview, have been a source of inspiration as well as motivation in my move to a more technical approach of landscape photography. Looking forward to sharing my thoughts on the Cambo Actus I will...
