MFD 2025 – state of the industry and outlook

A yellow filter is very mild and won't shift the AF focus much. As the filters get redder, the focus shift be increasingly problematic. Maybe the Pentax will handling the AE better, but generally with the Leica Mono with a red / dark red filter & polarizer, I need +2 to +3 EC. On the XF with...

MFD 2025 – state of the industry and outlook

The explanation I got... using the Sony sensor, that means removing the CFA, thus nullifying the PDAF auto-focus. So, a monochrome Q3 would need a unique auto-focus set-up. There are much more technically minded people who say whether or not that narrative flies, but that was the story I got.

MFD 2025 – state of the industry and outlook

Alrighty... let's go there. Most people in this thread won't know this stuff about monochrom sensors. Paul, you shoot monochrome sensors, so this rant below isn't for you. For non-monochrome sensor crowd - There is no auto-focus, period. Red filters cause focus shift, so SLR styled cameras...

MFD 2025 – state of the industry and outlook

Assuming somebody is shooting a technical camera, stitching might become more commonplace to offset for the loss in native aspect ratio. An EVF would be nice, but how does that work with something like the XT? Ergonomically the IQ5 would some EVF outgrowth atop the IQ5 itself. Seems rather...

    Pico with Schneider 180T

RAF is awesome. I've used S.K. Grimes and RAF for custom step-up filters. Both do excellent work. RAF costs about 20% of S.K. Grimes... so there's that :)

How useful is having a second body?

My experience has been - the more "bespoke" a camera is, the more likely a back-up will be needed.

Panoramic Images with the IQ4 while on the Field?

Are you creating pano's because you don't have a wide enough lens to address the scene? Or are you doing pano's for increased resolution - like shooting 4 images with 80mm and stitching vs taking one shot with 35mm?

Live view support for Capture One for iPad / iPhone Version 2.3.0

Whether they opt to support to Capture Pilot or designate end of life is their call, but I think it comes at reasonably high risk. Phase One is still offering new stock IQ3's as CPO's - I know, because that is how my Achromatic was purchased. It certainly wasn't sold me with the disclaimer of...

Hasselblad 40mm IF - What Size Filter?

Thank you everyone. Submitted a request to RAF Camera for a custom step-up ring. Very economical to do - RAF Camera - Custom Step-Up Rings I have a full set of 105mm filters. Finding a M86 x1 Male to 105M x0.75 Female is probably impossible.

Hasselblad 40mm IF - What Size Filter?

I'm considering buying this lens and want to make sure the lens will work with a 86-95mm step-up ring. Hoping somebody here can give that a thumbs up or thumbs down. Thank you.

Live view support for Capture One for iPad / iPhone Version 2.3.0

That updates several months was something to do with iOS 17.x. Evidently it needs another update to work with IOS 18. @ShaunQ - would you mind relaying your problem to Steve H or Brad K. at CI? Every time I raise an issue with Phase One / Capture One support, they tell me they can't replicate...

Live view support for Capture One for iPad / iPhone Version 2.3.0

The IQ3-100 (and IQ3's in general) are not supported by Capture One Mobile. We're supposed to use Capture Pilot; however, that died with IOS 18. I have an open trouble ticket for that. No news / update though...

    X-Shutter useful for landscape work...?

Is there a way to know whether a lens is Gen 1 vs Gen 2?

    X-Shutter useful for landscape work...?

Phase One could make the Copal shutters / Aperture Only units more enjoyable to use in the field (and elsewhere) by adding fields for - • Focal Length • Shift X value • Shift Y value • Tilt Value They have aperture, so why focal length was left off makes zero sense to me... PO support...

    X-Shutter useful for landscape work...?

Interesting topic in regards to whether X-Shutters maintain a more stable calibration than mechanical shutters. Frankly, that's not something I had considered. What changed between a Generation I vs a Generation II X shutter? Is there an easy to visually determine if a given lens is version I...
