Sigma new products annoucement in 6 days !

Hello Graham, I know about those events. We are in 2021 and I just "hope" that Sigma have found a new foundry. I don't know what the real problem is behind this sensor. Maybe some technology are lost ? We remember the first venue of the Merrill sensor and the mess around it (SD1 launched at...

    Theory behind Sigma FP cameras

Just found some informations about this subject : https://www.sigma-global.com/en/news/2021/02/19/12739/ We will not know what really happened but it seems to be serious. He does not look very comfortable at all. Scrapping all studie and R&D on a sensor and braking a contract with a foundry...

    Theory behind Sigma FP cameras

Hey folks ! I'm reading all informations about SIGMA products since the last 3 years and today I came to a theory about what is going on, camera wise, at SIGMA. You know I love this brand since the first DP back in 2009, and I love it because of the foveon. With years passing, foveon went in...

    FS : Nikon AF-S 58mm f/1.4G

Hello there, I’m selling my beloved 58mm, my favorite Nikon lense in the last 10 years. It is absolutelly pristine, no trace of use or anything else. I’m asking 850€ for it, raisonable price when I think how much I paid for it originaly. Top tier B+W filter on it is offered, as well as a Nikon...

    Z6 or Z7 -- or both ???

Hello Jack, Happy new year to you and your familly ! I can speak only for the Z6 I use since January 2019. I never wanted to own a D8xx and stayed with my trusty D700. When the Z6 was available, I took a big decision and bought it with the 24/70 f4 … just with the feeling. I needed a new work...

    Nikon 58mm 1.4 G with a Nikon Z6 - any experience?

On a technical point of view, I have seen some photographers saying that aspherical lenses aren’t optimised / prized for the bokeh. This lens is optimised for it ... she have two aspherical elements, one pure glass and one composite (glass+plastic). Her prime field of action is night / sky wide...

    Nikon 58mm 1.4 G with a Nikon Z6 - any experience?

You'll not regret the combo you have right now. I was on the verge to wait for the 50 f1.2 but it is a 50, not a 58, and I doubt they will emphasize on magic engineering like they did with the 58... but I might be wrong. Tried hard to have the flare by screwing an old filter on it.

    Nikon 58mm 1.4 G with a Nikon Z6 - any experience?

This is fine observations. If weight and form factor aren’t a problem, one can mount any F mount lens via the FTZ adapter. Sigma lenses are very very huge and won’t focus as good as native Nikon lenses (S or G). In the G line, as you can see above, the 58 is my personnal limit. The 105 or even...

    Nikon 58mm 1.4 G with a Nikon Z6 - any experience?

The 58 works very well on the Z6. So well that it work better on the Z bodys than on the D bodys. So if you want it and can afford it and understand it, get the 58 it is a keeper. I will soon give an article to GetDPI about the Z, some lenses (S-F-D) and video rig. In a month or so. With the...
