    Refreshing Elinchrom Ranger batteries

I need to refresh these batteries. I have 5 of them and buying new is too much. Has anyone used any of these two companies? 1 - https://www.mtobattery.com/collections/photography-battery-rebuilding/products/el19280-elinchrom-battery-rebuild-service 2 -...

    Back from Africa

Greetings everyone. Looking back, I realize how helpful this site has been on my journey. I worked there for a few years with two Eli Rangers and a AcuteB 600ws. Mamiya RZProIID (really love this camera) Later acquired the first gen XF and upped to a 80mp back which I had 15ft up in the air for...

    Searching: specific light modifier

greetings, So I've been shooting panoramics in vertical slices - but with people placed across the length of the frame, at different depths.. I'd been using a Ranger 1200ws head with a grid, boomed overhead to 'spotlight" and bring down the ambient. Even with diffusion, I find it too harsh...

Phase One IQ 100 on Mamiya RZ

I only shoot people in set-up environments with lighting. P45, now IQ180. Love the RZ IID - perfect price/marriage of analog and digital. * the ability to just turn the back for orientation. * quick change to a roll-film back. no cables with the required adapter. * LS to 1/400 sync. cheap sharp...

Capture One 11 with old images

Thanks. I will definitely try it - esp since most of them were shot with my old P45. Curious to see any differences with pix from my current IQ180.

Capture One 11 with old images

Just wondering - I have projects that were shot in 2011 and worked on with the real early versions of C1. Is there value in going back to the original captures, but this time with C1 v.11?

    XF from Overhead

Finally got to scratch a longtime itch - brought to me finally by an XF tethered. Focusing/capturing with a laptop from 25ft away - strange but awesome. Didn't have a ladder tall enough, so we used an SUV lol. In the pic, my second video shooter sets up a Sony A7II for video from the same pov.

    High on newly arrived XF

I do miss the RZ WLF experience. Right now, I'm enjoying looking through a viewfinder again. And my focus rate's gone up like to 95%.

    High on newly arrived XF

Hi Steve and Brad, Thanks for the assistance. I had simply replied to a previous email thread with Brad. Will re-check the menu settings, though I thought I had gone through everything. The Hahnel btw is the simple release cable, not the breakout box. I've tried it with and without the...

    High on newly arrived XF

Two weeks in, and am loving my XF. Haven't touched my RZ system at all. Two minor issues: I have the XF rigged 15-20ft up in the air shooting down. I've turned off any power setting - but the camera or back still goes to sleep. Anything I'm missing in the menus? Also, the Hahnel remote release...

    Profoto B1x

Ken - indeed. And at my widest, there's still many tricks to getting stuff done. Just a weird crazy scene right now - a new LiFe battery is $650, while a good used AcuteB kit with LiFe can be had for $900. Already that's almost half of a new B1X...lol. I think I'll head in that direction - with...

    Profoto B1x

I'm keenly interested, as I'm at a crossroads. I'm currently in Africa with two Eli Rangers RX and one AcuteB. Two of my four RX batteries are dead, so are two out of four heads. AcuteB down to one Life battery. Question: since I've been using mainly the 1100ws of the Rangers, I'm not sure...

Mamiya RZ A matte screen vs Maxwell HI-LUX Brilliant Matte Screen

lol duh! It was you I got the Promaster idea from haha. With the IQ180, checking focus will be much easier now, but will still recreate your rig soon, with some black cloth and gaffer tape. and a cap for the magnifier against the African sun when I'm not using it.. thanks!!

    High on newly arrived XF

Still have to put it through it's paces, but really love the minimalist design. With a 80mm BL, it felt lighter than I expected, but hefty enough (and pricey enough) to not disrespect it. I get the same feeling as with my RZ ProIID - a big box of tools that say: this is your craft, premeditate -...

Mamiya RZ A matte screen vs Maxwell HI-LUX Brilliant Matte Screen

Not being scientifically precise, this won't be helpful, but - I too received the 45min lecture by Bill lol. Installed it on my RZ ProIID when I got into the format from the getgo. I'd say it did help, but I was simply expecting something more dramatic. Just ageing eyes, is all, and I went...

    Elinchrom Ranger Lithium Battery

Same here. I work in the field, and am frankly getting tired of the RX batteries' ridiculous weight. Shooting MF and wide-open however kinda keeps me in the 1200ws range - exploring maybe the Profoto D1 now. Might there be any other options readily available?
