Shoulder bag for one of the new MF cameras

Using a camera belt creates a much better weight distribution, with 0 back pressure and very good quick access. Thinktank is by far the best option. The only downside: conspicuity. You clearly draw a lot more attention to yourself (even though, in reality nobody ever approached me in any way, on...

    Differences of XCD 38v?

Colour shift … again ? To me, aside the very disturbing colour variation, chromatic aberations and moire, the right hand side seems stronger than the left.

    New Hasselblad XCD 20-35/3.2-4.5

The 38 is highly versatile and the IQ is quite decent (I may have had a really good copy of that lens). I found it a bit limiting in terms of FOV , though, especially / but not only indoors. Also, for night shooting, the corners were not so good, wide open - the lens needed to be stopped down...

    New Hasselblad XCD 20-35/3.2-4.5

AFAIK, the only lenses that were individually checked for proper calibration after assembly were the Zeiss Otus lenses. I have yet to find a story a bad Otus sample :)

    New Hasselblad XCD 20-35/3.2-4.5

Best comparison with the primes yet (25 and 38 only, unfortunately), measurements included https://photographylife.com/reviews/hasselblad-20-35mm-f-3-2-4-5-e/2

    New Hasselblad XCD 20-35/3.2-4.5

I would hang on dearly to those fabulous primes if I were you! IQ wise you’re going to get hurt with that zoom, the 21 and 30 seem irreplaceable to me!

    New Hasselblad XCD 20-35/3.2-4.5

Yes, exactly! Those 35-75mm MTF charts are squarely in “prime killer“ territory. The 20-35 doesn’t play in that same league!

    New Hasselblad XCD 20-35/3.2-4.5

I love mine, not sure when / if Hasselblad will come up with something similar, in the newer lenses!

    New Hasselblad XCD 20-35/3.2-4.5

Nice travel lens, no prime killer - look at those MTFs. The resolution is nowhere near the 30mm wide open. Not the same design philosophy as the 35-75. This is a rich dentist holiday lens, from what I can see 😅 And we need the official release to understand what the “E” stands for - new...

    Differences of XCD 38v?

Hmm, the first obvious question: what's with the serious colour shift / cast between corners and the various shots ? (the colour cast changes between the stops, and the various corners)

    Differences of XCD 38v?

My very early 38v, bought new, was very good. My xcd 30 and 45, both bought used, are just better 😀

What are your $500 - $1,000 ‘Bang for the Buck’ lenses?

Hasselblad XCD 45 3.5 - a gem at a bargain (used) price, due to the price pressure coming from the 45p.

    Comparision: Canon TS-E 135 mm, digaron-S 100, Apo Digitar 150 mm on 100c and Fuji gfx100s

Really interesting, thank you for sharing these findings! How do the Digaron-s and Apo-Digitar compare with serious movements ?

xcd 38 experiences, and compared to 30 and 45

Let’s not play here - 100% is not actually a magnified image, it is the native resolution. It‘s magnified only in relation to a display medium who cannot display, without magnification, the native resolution of an image. For web display all these differences we are talking about are effectively...

xcd 38 experiences, and compared to 30 and 45

It might be a good idea to redo the exact same test with your friend’s x2d - then you could judge for yourself. If pixel pitch influence on lens performance is surprising for you …oh well, you’ve missed a lot of the “fun” of the past 2 decades of megapixel wars, in all formats :)

xcd 38 experiences, and compared to 30 and 45

The 50MP sensor puts a lot less performance pressure on any lens due to the much higher pixel pitch - those pixels are twice the size of those found in the x2d, so much easier to fill with detail. On the 100 MP x2d all lenses are pushed much harder - so performance issues will become aparent...

    Hasselblad XCD 28P Focus Shift

    The problem is clearly there!

xcd 38 experiences, and compared to 30 and 45

I went against the trend, here: sold my 38v for a 30 and 45 - both original 3.5 xcd lenses. While I was happy with the 38v, I found the FL limiting, at times - I find the 30 & 45 much more useful. While the 38 was very good stopped down, the 30 is much better in the corners, wide open, and...

The great tripod & head thread!

I have no intention of messing around with my gear. Thatˋs why I donˋt intend to carry it over my shoulder, fully mounted. I donˋt find that comfortable, at all. But there is nothing in my current tripod + head setup that suggests anything but 100% confidence. Happy shooting! :)
