    New Hasselblad XCD 20-35/3.2-4.5

The second Albrecht Voss sample is interesting as it shows that, with an appropriate profile (and some skilled post processing), the lens is capable of an impressive rectilinear representation of straight lines. My initial reaction was that there is some wavy moustache-type distortion but it...

    New Hasselblad XCD 20-35/3.2-4.5

I can only speak for myself, David. I am comparing these samples against what I am used to seeing with my existing XCD lenses – in particular, the 21mm F4. It's a largely academic exercise as I hardly ever use the 21mm and have no interest in buying the new zoom but it is interesting to see how...

    New Hasselblad XCD 20-35/3.2-4.5

The preview samples are quite interesting and a bit of a mixed bag. I guess we shouldn't read too much into the performance of the lens from a few samples from a photographer of unknown capabilities but, after looking at the RAWs, I'm not exactly blown away by the lens. I don't see any that I'd...

Appuldurcombe Down, Isle of Wight. 907x CFV II 50c and 45P. The obelisk dates back to 1774 and has been damaged by lightning over the years (despite being partially restored at times, it isn't the most elegant of structures and now rather resembles a pile of breeze blocks😂).

(It's been a while since I posted in the thread. Well, a few weeks). West coast of the Isle of Wight at Brook. 907x CFV II 50c and 28P.

    Hasselblad XCD 28P

I had the same impression before I decided to give the lens a go. I use it only for landscape photography and I have not had a problem with a colour cast using my 907x and CFV II 50c back. It's an excellent lens IMO and the small size and light weight are an added bonus. I also appreciate how...

    Fun with MF images 2024

I spend a fortnight every summer walking on the Isle of Wight but I decided to nip over there for the day last week to catch the flight season of a particular butterfly and to see the Thrift and vetches in flower along the cliff tops. It's a fantastic stretch of coast. 907x CFV II 50c and 28P.

Brampton Wood in north Cambridgeshire. This wood benefits from some wide grassy rides and nice open meadow areas. 907x CFV 50c II and 28P.

    Fun with the Hasselblad 907x

With the "waist-level" display, the CFV II is ideal for very low level photographs like this diminutive orchid (which is just a few inches tall). Not sure the 28P is the ideal lens for small flowers but it focusses pretty close to get a 1/6 maximum reproduction ratio. Burnt-tip Orchid (Neotinea...

    Fun with MF images 2024

Now quite scarce in the UK, the Burnt-tip Orchid (Neotinea ustulata) is largely confined to a few nature reserves. 907x CFV II 50C & 28P.

    Fun with the Hasselblad 907x

My natural instinct is to shoot towards the sun or main light source. 😂 I would be a liar if I said that I never find it awkward to use the screen on the 907x in bright light but I've pretty much got used to it by now. I could probably benefit from one of those Hoodman loupes but I make do with...

Ageing photographers and the weight. Simplicate and add lightness.

That looks very neat and tidy. I must admit I wasn't familiar with the f-stop ICU system and bags. I have a similar set-up but nothing like as integrated. When I'm headed into the mountains or going on a long hike, I put my 907x and 45P into a Billingham Hadley Small which I then stuff into my...

    Fun with MF images 2024

The Dunstable Downs in Bedfordshire is one of the best locations in the UK for the Duke of Burgundy (Hamearis Lucina) butterfly and, during most of May, it can be found along many of the byways and footpaths that criss-cross the chalk escarpment. All photos with the 907x CFV II 50C and 28P, a...

    Fun with the Hasselblad 907x

It's Hasselblad themselves that have been calling it a "street" lens and much of the promotional "buzz" at launch reflected that. The weight/size thing is certainly one factor in that description but I also think it is Hasselblad being cautious because the lens has a number of optical quirks...
