    "Self-driven" PhaseOne IQ260

I had some weird behaviour of my (untethered) P1 IQ260 on TechCam. After starting I pushed the PLAY button and since them without touching it moved through the menues. I displayed a picture, it changed on its own to 100% view, than the histogram, back to the 100% view and so on... Does anybody...

    Backlight: Rodenstock Digarons vs. others

Interesting...- as said I see it very rarely. My 32mm is from 2020, the 40mm from 2019, both in Copal/ALPA mount, always on a IQ2 60 but I doubt that the difference in Cambo/ALPA-mount explains this. If they changed anything from older to newer manufacturing dates I do not know. I do a lot of...

    Backlight: Rodenstock Digarons vs. others

Interesting - I recognized the "Flare-Topic" with the Rodies only by top-lights at interior shootings, and only if they are at the edge of the frame. A careful adjustment of a lens shade/French flag was always a solution, sometimes (worst case scenario) protruding minimal into the frame (works...

App for previewing various focal lengths and aspect ratios?

just downloaded it - great tool. Next shooting with less lens changes...;)

    In memory of Kevin Raber

That's really a loss - I never met him in person but his responsiveness not having ever been in contact with me before to certain very specific questions was incomparable. And his joint work with Michael Reichmann in the good old Lula days brought me back to medium format photography - this time...

Tariffs and the future of MFD

If I remember right Canada is served via Leica USA - that is the reason for a similar hit because it goes through the US...

From February 2024 „Sale of P1 this year". New Speculation?

If I remember right the X-Shutter is a (refined?) former Rollei design. And unfortunately Hasselblad refused ideas to use their shutter for Tech-Cam lenses as well as an alternative to the out of production Copal 0.

comparision between Digaron-W 50 mm, Grandagon 65 mm, Biogon 53 mm

That's unfortunately true but some suppliers assist you by this or design at least their equipments that it is adjustable, e.g. by making spacers available between the back and the camera/frame. It is especially a topic in the TechCam world as these are very often components sourced individually...

comparision between Digaron-W 50 mm, Grandagon 65 mm, Biogon 53 mm

And this might be the case today with differently branded Rodies as well - tighter tolerances or another quality check like SINAR did.

Germany - the model of efficiency? Long time ago....

    Hasselblad quality

The two blackouts on film were great marketing! On the ALPA I prefer P1 rear protective covers... ;)

    Hasselblad quality

I believe Hasselblad invented "V" when they introduced the H-system? Or even later?

    Hasselblad quality

As said - I loved the V-system (not called like that duing the good old times). Image quality, flexibility and handling was/is still great. But servicing a brand new 500c/m after the second roll of film was disillusioning...- servicing A12 backs more than once (and getting confirmed it from a...

    Hasselblad quality

All I wanted to mention is, that the medium format cameras were (are?) not the holy grail of reliability - as they are of image quality. And even the Hasselblads in the good old days were not immune of it (what I initially believed when I bought one as a very young photographer...- quickly...

    Hasselblad quality

When I bought my 500c/m in 1987 it failed after the 2nd roll of film - a spring broke and the mirror system got blocked. And the film Hassies are/were notoriously prone to issues with the film magazines - not keeping a proper gap between the pictures, sometimes even overlapping irregularly...

Panoramic Images with the IQ4 while on the Field?

Once you entered the P1 territory downgrading is quite painfull... And combine it with some Rodies...- you are lost ;) Just add an ALPA Pano with one suitable lens if the IQ4 is already yours for this application...- the big (financial) step is usually the IQ!

So, who is buying a Alpa these days?

Horses for courses - for my personal useage the ALPA Plus is the perfect match of portability, flexibility and design. I like the symmetrical design and barely come to the limits regarding the shift capabilities. As I do a lot of work in industrial coverage, I like as well the +-20mm. Of course...
