    AS Pico: Arca-Canon capabilities

Thanks for the test Will. An unshifted 53.4mm x 40mm frame uses up the whole promised circle of good definition, so I'm not surprised. Nonetheless, I hoped the unshifted one would have been better than that.

Oh dear. Peculiar fabric-like strands on the inside of front and real elements of an SK 120N. Any ideas?

That's disappointing to hear. Good luck finding someone else who is a bit more open minded about what repairable means!

Hi Bob. I'll send you a PM.

Schneider Apo Digitar 24mm 5.6 XL with centre filter with the CFV 100C

That all makes sense. It sounds like you know exactly what you want from the gear. As a thought experiment regarding your third point, how much freedom did you need to do your work with 4x5? For example, you mentioned you like wide angle lenses. Let's say you were using a Nikkor-SW 65 f/4s...

    WTB: Schneider-Kreuznach APO-Digitar 35mm f/5.6 XL-102

Thanks for the lead Paul. Dennis and I have already corresponded. His lens looks like a terrific option for someone who needs one already on an R mount and with a CF. Alas, I am forced to live within my means. ;) Thus, paying for components I will have to remove and throw in the drawer does not...

    AS Pico: Arca-Canon capabilities

That's intriguing... One thing that has always bothered me about the Cambo re-housing lenses (specifically Actar 24 and Actar 35) is that they are based on lenses that have close focusing helicoids (a "floating" design). However, Cambo removed the helicoid, which means they also removed the...

    Old vs new.

Dedicated photography packs like Warren's lovely Shimodo are one option. Another direction is to get a general purpose pack and load it with inserts. My current every day hauler is an Ortlieb Atrack 45 litre. It's basically a dry bag with a really good harness. It's waterproof, not just water...

    AS Pico: Arca-Canon capabilities

On the numbers, rather than from actual experience... You're close on the image circle. Canon says 67.2mm for the 24mm. https://www.canon.ca/en/product?name=TS-E_24mm_f/3.5L_II&category=/en/products/Lenses/EF-Lenses/Tilt-Shift With a 33mm x 44mm sensor you're getting 7.5mm of shift in landscape...

    WTB: Schneider-Kreuznach APO-Digitar 35mm f/5.6 XL-102

I have another WTB posting for an L-88 copy of this lens, and I'm still interested in one of those. But they seem to be very rare, so my next best option is an XL-102. If you have a Schneider-Kreuznach APO-Digitar 35mm f/5.6 XL-102 you'd like to sell, please send me a note. I'm in Canada...

The "colour rendering" thing is overdone. Hasselblad has done a nice job of creating a standard output from RAW files developed in Phocus that a lot of people really like. I like it too. It's not more "real" or "natural" than other profiles, but it's very pleasing and feels right to many people...

Paul, I think you have lost sight of how it sounds when you suggest that Fuji cameras are for cheap and unserious people. There are serious photographer on this forum who make their living using Fuji equipment and who can afford whatever they need who, I'm sure, are rolling their eyes when they...

What is the cheapest way to try a canon EF lens with Phase one back?

Some people who adapted the Nikon PCE 19mm to GFX used dumb adapters, but locked the aperture to the one they wanted to use by putting the lens on a Nikon body, setting the aperture, and then removing the lens from the body. I think the trick was to pull the battery of the Nikon camera...

What is the cheapest way to try a canon EF lens with Phase one back?

I'm guessing a big part of the reason is people don't want to use lenses where they can't control the aperture.

It sounds like you and I have the same use case Tim. I humped my 4x5 gear around on my back for many years, in rough terrain. When I gave up 4x5 I thought I had to give up view camera movements. Long story short I went through a bunch of solutions (tilt-shift adapters, Toyo VX23D digital view...

You can see for yourself how the Fuji GF 30mm T-S compares to the Rodenstock 32mm HR Digaron-W. Forum member Warren Diggles put up a nice post with full resolution sample files. There's also a file for the Schneider-Kreuznach APO-Digitar 35mm f/5.6 XL-102 in that post...

    WTB: Schneider-Kreuznach APO-Digitar 35mm f/5.6 L-88

On the off chance that someone has one of the L-88 models in the Plaubel board, here's a picture to jog your memory. These were also sold in Schneider-Kreuznach electronic shutters that could be attached to any board.

Schneider Apo Digitar 24mm 5.6 XL with centre filter with the CFV 100C

With GFX cameras, the sensor is in a fairly deep cavity. This limits shift to around 25mm before hard vignetting. I have one lens that can go a bit farther. Wide angle symmetrical lenses will be max 25mm. If you are flat stitching, you can get around this because the stitching software will...

Schneider Apo Digitar 24mm 5.6 XL with centre filter with the CFV 100C

John and I are using similar outfits based on the Arca-Swiss F-Universalis and GFX 100S cameras. The only lenses I'm using that needs an LCC frame is the S-K APO-Digitar 35mm f/5.6. And it only needs it for light falloff because colour cast is not something I'm seeing due to the BSI sensor in...
