Schneider 90mm Super Angulon XL on digital

Ah, MV. That has a lot more movement than an Actus. I can easily see you hitting the image circle if you're using all the available tilt.

Schneider 90mm Super Angulon XL on digital

I have guesses about most of the Actar "source" lenses, but that's it. We do know that the Actar-35 is a Contax 645 because the buyer has to supply it. Similarly, the Actar-19 is a PC-Nikkor 19mm T-S lens. I think the Actar-24 is a Samyang/Rokinon, but that's a guess. The Actar-90 is an f/4...

Schneider 90mm Super Angulon XL on digital

Following up on my earlier suggestion, this is the S-K APO-Componon HM 90mm f/4.5 (Type -0025 in Makro Iris mount). The lens is around 40 cm off the table top and about 40 cm from the centre of the sheet of paper. It's wide open at f/4.5. On the left is no tilt. On the right is 11 degrees of...

Schneider 90mm Super Angulon XL on digital

Is this tabletop work? Are you confident it will perform well at those distances? That's not always guaranteed with that kind of lens. Another 90mm option that works great at tabletop distances is the APO-Componon HM 90/4.5 in the Makro-Iris mount. It's a version of the lens that is also sold...

    Technical Camera Images

You mentioned you were open to a different crop. I tried one that kept all the height, but came in on the left to crop out the light standards and on the right to leave out the LCD sign. That had a nice balance.

    Technical Camera Images

I like the warm light on the building, the contrasting cool tones, and the way you used the zig-zag pattern in the plaza. Nicely done! What's not to like from that lens? Looks great!

Excellent read - Field Techniques for Technical Cameras – Lenses and Accessories by Dave Chew in PhotoPXL

In the interim.... the Internet Archive still has most of the material: https://web.archive.org/web/20240716153709/https://photopxl.com/field-techniques-for-technical-cameras-lenses-and-accessories/

Cambo Actus G and 90mm lens question

That's terrific Kevin. It's a very nice lens. Enjoy!

    Fun with MF images 2026

I haven't had a chance to use my new APO-Digitar 72/5.6 in a lot of actual photography (as opposed to evaluation photography). However, so far I haven't seen anything to complain about. I especially appreciate that it is the only lens on my technical cameras where tilt and swing are completely...

Cambo Schneider 24mm f5.6 - focus mount ring stuck?

All it takes is one piece of grit in the right spot inside the helical and it's game over. Helicals can be disassembled, cleaned, and re-lubricated. Taking them apart is easy. Getting them back together properly can be very tricky. Most helicals will mesh at multiple positions, but only one of...

    Swapping P1 IQ3 100 against 907x cfv 100c?

It's definitely something for people to think about. I would find it annoying to have to run those files through a special routine to remove the problem for those files. But then again I find using LCC frames to be annoying too. I'd find having to develop the files in Phocus to then import them...

    Swapping P1 IQ3 100 against 907x cfv 100c?

@diggles (among others) is showing us some wonderful work made with the 35mm and the CFV 100C back. The striping issue seems to be well-handled now with a workaround.

Laowa T/S 35 mm on Hasselblad XD2 II and 907x100c- any experience? what about the strips at movements?

I think it's amazing that Laowa and TTartisan are releasing good quality and affordable tilt-shift lenses. I think of them as the "gateway" to technical cameras. In the stewardship thread I made a point that was motivated by Rod's nice explanation (above). Namely, people don't know what they...

Stewardship of GetDPI: A New Chapter

Here's a site suggestion for CI @Dave Gallagher In my experience, a major barrier to entry into technical cameras is what I call the problem of "Don't know what you don't know". The vast majority of people who make photographs, even seriously, use fixed cameras. To get them interested in...

    Playing with adapted lenses ... Hasselblad 907x/XCDII 50c + Nikkor 28mm f/2

I went through all the 28mm shift lens options from back in the film days. The Pentax K 28/3.5 was terrible (but n=1). I tried two copies of the Nikkor (latest version). The Leica R PC Super-Angulon 28/2.8 (made by Schneider-Kreuznach and sold by S-K with lots of mount options) was by far the...

Laowa T/S 35 mm on Hasselblad XD2 II and 907x100c- any experience? what about the strips at movements?

The old Canon FD 35mm f/2.8 had nice mechanics too. Shift was on a worm drive so no concerns about moving on its own. Part of the problem with modern tilt-shift lenses is they are so much larger and heavier. All that glass gives is terrific image quality, but it also makes them harder to use...

Laowa T/S 35 mm on Hasselblad XD2 II and 907x100c- any experience? what about the strips at movements?

The obsession Laowa has with making tilt-shift lenses fast and "macro" lenses is puzzling. Imagine how much lighter and smaller this lens could be as a f/5.6 lens.
