A7r, A7r2 - and why I'm keeping both ...

I don't know: my Mac says so ... 🙃
Thanks Bart. I think I know what you are driving at. :)
My M1 Mac mini certainly agrees with your Mac.
My mini is hopelessly overworked, underpowered, under-memoried, and under-storaged.
Considering what I use it for.

Generating those GIF animations is quite resource intensive, requiring lots of storage, memory, and processing power.
Photoshop complains a lot of not getting enough memory. The 16 GB of my mini seem quite limiting.
Photoshop also uses a lot of scratch space, in fact once more than a TeraByte, so that the Finder ran out of memory.
On my mini Photoshop also refuses to align more than 300 images. Sigh.
Aligning lots of high resolution images can take a pretty long time.
Perfect for taking a nice nap.

Short sequences of 30 or 40 images seem ideal for generating GIFs.
Often I am forced to cut back on linear resolution of the images to ½, ¼, or even ⅛ of the source images so that I can keep the FIF file size to less than 100 MB.
Basically what I am putting out there is at the outer limit of what the current Internet can realistically support.
Sorry about that.

I am still debating whether to upgrade now to a loaded M1 ULTRA Mac Studio or better to wait for the next generation of Apple Silicon ships that are ARM based and very energy efficient. ;)

Here is another image I took in the Jemez Mountains.

Sony ILCE-9 + FE 35mm F1.4 GM @ f/8, 1/250 s, ISO 100.

A GIF shows the long dry grass blowing in the wind.

It's because of your GIF animations that even my lowly Studio M1 MAX with 64GB RAM is sweating and started complaining ...
Thank you Bart. That's good to know.
So I better wait for the next generation of Mac computers. ;)
That will also make sure I will not be making FIFs at an accelerated pace any time soon.

An example at 15 FPS.

The first image seems heavily underexposed. No post-processing, just importing into C1 and making a jpg image out of the Sony A1 raw file.

The second image pretty much reflects what I remember seeing, solid overcast and snowing. It's probably still too dark, especially with the vignetting.

The final image was processed with DxO PL6.

Sony ILCE-1 + FE 20mm F1.8 G @ f/13, 1/320 s, ISO 100.

The background is nice and clean, but to me the bird's details are so-so.
All in all I'd say it's a bit of a 'tour de force' to get acceptable clean and yet detailed high ISO shots.
However, you've get to accept this or get nothing ... :)

Thanks Bart. With the A1 one probably could achieve a better result. Nevertheless very high ISO is still a challenge.

Here is a comparison of 2 versions of the same image by just selecting or deselecting "DxO ClearView Plus" in DxO PhotoLab 6.

DxO ClearView Plus not selected.

DxO ClearView Plus selected.

If memory serves me right, then the first image is closer to what I saw with my own eyes.
But the second image reveals more structure methinks.

What's your take on this? TIA.
