I'm looking at the Cambo RPS-500 platform for scanning film with a camera. I like the approach they've taken to the design, i.e. treating camera scanning as more similar to scanning with an Imacon than a lab production 'full roll' scanner. But I don't see any dealers for it in the USA, and it's fairly expensive. I'd love to actually talk to a user of the product so I can trust that the film holders 'really do' keep things flat.
I've got a GFX100 and the Contax 120/4 Makro Planar mounted on a super heavy duty copy stand. Everything is ready to go but I need a mounting system for the film. For my light source I'll be testing the Heiland split grade trichromatic LED with the color controller. Though I may revert to a simpler high CRI LED if I don't see an obvious advantage.
The Negative Supply stuff is the obvious choice but the Cambo product looks more suited to my actual needs, which is high resolution single frame scans.
