I recently took my Pentax 645D and 645z out for walk around town. It's been 3 years since I last used the 645D and 2 years for the 645z. Since I had purchased another P645 lens (the HD DA 28-45/4.5) I wanted to try it out. It's a beast (especially as I was using it without a tripod on this day).

I also took a few shots with one of my favorite P645 lenses (the FA 150mm f2.8) and was reminded again why I like this lens so much.

Here are a couple shots I took on the 645D a few years ago when I was testing the FA 150-300/5.6 lens. I didn't have high expectations for it, but I was surprised at how good the images were at both the near and far ends of the zoom range.

645D, FA 150-300/5.6 ED IF lens, ISO 200 at f5.6 (1/200th and 1/125th)

At 150mm and 1/200th

I stepped further back and took a similar shot at 300mm and 1/125th

Fantastic ! Guess the two last ones were taken with a tripod, wen't they ?
Thanks Robert! Although I don't actually remember whether I used a tripod for these photos taken 3 years ago, it is very likely that I did. I would have used a tripod to get the framing/composition just right for both shots and because there is no image stabilization with this older telephoto zoom lens or IBIS on the 645D/645z.

This grand hall was once the largest Post Office in Paris. It has been completely renovated and now houses a hotel, offices, restaurants, and... a smaller post office, all arranged around the central patio that I shot using my Hasselblad X1D II with the XCD55V.

This is a flat stitch of two images taken with +/-12.5mm of left-right shift, using a Fujinon EX 75mm F/4.5 enlarger lens on my GFX 100s/F-Universalis. This lens is an interesting option as it has a much rounder diaphragm and larger aperture annotations than the SK ApoComponons that I have also used. However, its rotating mount that is great in an enlarger, seems to create small inaccuracies in alignment that compromises its performance at infinity when used as a taking lens. At Rob deLoe's suggestion, I replaced this with a V-mount to M39 adapter (readily and cheaply available on EBay) and this turns it into a very capable, lightweight and economical lens for general use. Location is in the Craigieburn basin in the mountains west of Christchurch.

Reflections

This is a piece of Morgan’s Mill, an old water wheel on Martin Creek near Williford, Arkansas where a small Civil War skirmish took place in 1864. I’ve driven past it for decades on my way to visit my grandparents. They’re gone now, and the mill is slowly giving way to time as well. I stopped by yesterday and it brought back a lot of fond memories.
