I may have shared an earlier version of the Horse Head Nebula but one of the common practices in astrophotography is to revisit previous images to add additional data. In this case I added some frames taken through a hydrogen alpha filter that only lets through the typical red color that is emitted by excited hydrogen gas. I love the way photography can reveal things we can't see with our own eyes. Without these sorts of tools we might never realize there are huge clouds of hydrogen gas floating around in our galaxy just waiting for gravity to coalesce it into a new star.

All frames taken with my IQ4150. Astrophotography with a medium format camera comes with challenges but also rewards of resolution and dynamic range.

Two more from the same roll. H3D-HM16-32 with HC 3.5-4.5/50-110 with Fujifilm Acros, scanned with H3D-39 with HC 4/120, processed in Ps2020.

These photographs are of Pierce Reservoir in Singapore. A calm, serene place. Good for a moment of quiet contemplation, far from the madding crowd of the city.

Trying to mentally shift gears (pun intended) after shooting cars in my free time over the holidays and begin to think about going to Death Valley the end of February. Going back thru some of my raw files from my first trip, this was of Elephants Foot at Zabriskie Point. Looking forward to have more time there, my first trip was so rushed.

That trip will be great. When I did it with a friend several years ago we also visited the Alabama Hills on the east side of Mt. Whitney. Awesome location for photography.

I would love to go to Alabama Hills, I have seen some beautiful picture from that area!
