Thanks Joe for your kind words. The consolidation happened between 1971 and 1986, some nearly 50 years ago. When were you last here? This Government website provides more details and important dates in its history.

Peter, your Singapore street scene travelogues have been fascinating. I visited Singapore a few times many years ago on business and truly enjoyed the experiences. The food was delicious, the people friendly, and the city unbelievably clean and organized. I'll admit that I'm sad to see the hawkers and street food sellers consolidated into hawker centers. I understand the reasons, but the Singapore street food experience was one of my favorite memories from those trips.

Thanks for sharing and please continue.

Peter, all of my travel to Singapore occurred between 1982 and 1987, and there were still a few street vendors in the park near my hotel. We sat on the grass and walkway and ate satay. Wonderful! Thanks for the reference link.

82-87. Nice. Those days The Satay Club was still operational beside the sea. It’s gone now. In its place is the Esplanade. You will be surprised that we have reclaimed the sea and now stands the Marina Bay Sands Resorts and Casino among other monster complexes. Seen below is the night scene of said Esplanade. It is a concert hall and performing arts centre, completed in
2002. This photograph was taken in 2010. Hasselblad H3D-39 with HCD 4/28, not long before I met you in CA.

Big Sur, California

I found this location, and composition, back in 2015 but I couldn't make a decent image since tide was too low. I finally had a chance to revisit with higher tide level (+4') and captured with better separation between rocks as shown in here.
I kept with same, almost, composition and captured 90 minutes apart between the first and the last.

Continuing to work thru my Lightroom catalog trying to clean it up as well as upgrading my external hard drive and backup system, ready to be finished! I ran across this image, there is nothing special about it other than it reminded me a 2 things. First, I did not go anyplace to enjoy fall colors last year and second, the fire that ravaged the Great Smoky Mountains that year. This image was taken October 25, 2016 in GSMNP, it was dry that trip and all the creeks were low but it was a fun trip! However, approximately 30 days later on November 28, 2016 a massive fire swept thru this area and into the city of Gatlinburg, TN, taking 14 lives, injuring 190 and causing an estimated 500 million in damages. According to the news 2,460 structures were damaged or destroyed and 17,136 acres were burned. The stories of how swiftly the fire swept thru the area trapping many people was terrifying and sad.
