I had no idea what to expect but I went to see an exhibition of the 20th century British painter Euan Uglow.

He always worked from life and was extremely slow to produce a work.

What was most interesting was the fact that he contrived to paint what the eye sees without the use of conventional perspective.

If he was painting a standing figure for example, he might build a scaffold of many layers in order that his eye height
was always the same height as the feature of the model he was painting, so he was never looking down at feet
or say looking up to a head.
