Thanks to everyone helping me get a smooth start in MF digital. What are good brands of batteries and charger? Kastar looks readily available. Do you need to spend more for reliability and battery life? Thanks,

George
Batteries will be needed a few, I got some marked BP-911/914/915 2500mAh. They are presumably Phase original of that age. However, I would not go under that specification 2500mAh, because a DB eats batteries if shooting many hours. I also got a Hähnel Twin V102 charger, but they are probably out of production and something modern may be better.

Is there a battery and charger included with the back?

What is the sensor format in this back? If it's the 44x33 format same as the Hasselblad CFV50c back, you can get the Hasselblad focusing screen which has scribed framing lines. They're no longer available new, it seems, but there's plenty of NOS available from Ebay. Just search for "Hasselblad CFV-50c focus screen".

I bought one each for my two 500CM bodies, that I use with the CFVII 50c back.

Those look great, and ready for CFV 50 !

No charger is included. I believe that one battery will be included but I do not know the brand.

I bought a Kastar wall charger and two Kaster batteries. One is the BP915/3500ma equivalent and one is the BP911/2400ma equivalent

That should give enough power. You can be lucky you don’t have to deal with the Mamiya/ Phase AF cameras, they will use up six AA cells in a very short time, especially in cold condotions.

BTW always remove the battery from the P25+ when not in use for more than a few days, I think it is better not to deplete the battery completely if left for a long time. If I remember I had some problems with that, and the downside is that you have to enter time and date again.

I think I destroyed one Phase battery, but I can’t say in which condition it was when I received it used.
It can’t be charged anymore, the charger reacts like no battery.

The Phase One HB V backs can be attached in two positions (vertical and horizontal) to the V body.
You need an other mask for framing.

I use this too.

If anyone wants the unicorn original CFV focus mask/glass, let me know as I still have one mint - ordered by mistake for my CFV50C II so completely unused.

That's not far off the CFV 44x33 format, same proportions. Personally, I'd go with one of the CFV50c screens: It will frame a little tight for the P25, but it's easy to extrapolate the additional FoV of the larger sensor. (I do that when using an A16 back on the 500CM, just mentally draw diagonals of the crop area out to the edge of the screen when framing...)

I understand that ... but of course, if you're shooting a bunch of verticals with the Phase One back, you can just turn the CFV50c focus screen 90° for that session. The focusing screen is square, the sensor crop is aligned with center, and it fits in either orientation. :)

I bought mine from KEH but forgot to return it in time for credit so it's here if someone wants one. I use the same equivalent HB 33x44 mask accu-matte screen for my CFV50C II.'
