Macro thread everyone?

We have just been on vacation in Turkey.
I wanted to travel light, so as my "macro optic" I just brought the little wide angle Nikkor AI-S 2.8/28mm with me relying on its 0.2m close focus capability.
If you have the opportunity to get really close to your subject, this wide angle Nikkor makes an excellent lightweight macro substitute.
Here used for a Praying Mantis.

First some captures with a narrow Depth Of Field

Steen, great shots! I have that lens too, I bought it ages ago for my F3 and have loved it ever since. Here's an image with the 2,8/28 mm Ais on the D3.

Ooh yes, alive & kickin' indeed :)
The good thing about dragonflies is that they sometimes seem to like to sit still and pose for you so you can get very close.
I was at about the Minimum Focus Distance for the lens.
And you are right, I did cheat and used the good ol' APS-C cropped sensor trick :D
Still a very useful sensor format for some macro and tele purposes like bugs and birds, I think.
In any case, Osman and Corlan, thank you for your kind words, both of you.

... Even though i obviously enough can't tell a dragonfly from a bee. LOL.
A bit of a bigger beast, so i guess this accounts for the 1:2 ratio of the ZF 100.

(as i called you a cheater, i was ready to accept some kind of good ol' Holmgang :ROTFL:)

Seriously, these are really great, Steen
