More and more film fun with something other than a Leica M

Back from my trip to SoCal for this year's American Lancia Club "West Coast Reunion" and I have a bunch of photos made with the Leica M10-R to go through, pick, and render ... but wanted to carry a camera on yesterday's walk for some casual around the neighborhood snappies. So I grabbed one of my Polaroids ... ;)

Lucky - Santa Clara 2025

Empties - Santa Clara 2025

Olive Tree Orchard - Santa Clara 2025

Psychic - Santa Clara 2025

all:
Polaroid SLR670x by MiNT
Polaroid 600 B&W
Scanned on Epson XP-7100
Rendered in Lightroom Classic

First, third, and last had a green filter on the camera. I used manual exposure with the "Light Meter" app on my iPhone 15 Pro.

enjoy!

Interestingly, I have almost completed my two real-world projects comparing results of various films and developers along with several different 35mm cameras.

My favorite films, now, in ranked order with my preferred developer and an acceptable alternative, are:
  1. Fujifilm Acros II 100 Developer: Ilford DD-X
  2. Kodak TMax 100 Developers: Rodinal/Ilford DD-X
  3. Eastman 5222 X X 250 Developers: Ilford DD-X/Rodinal
My favorite film cameras and lenses:
1. Leica M2, 50 Summilux
2. Nikon F100, Nikon 50/1.5 G
3. Nikkormat, Nikkor Auto H 50/2.0

However, I have numerous other Nikon cameras that I will always keep. They are just a joy to use.

I will continue posting results on my film adventures as I am planning on future projects and the rolls of film I am shooting, developing and processing are not only honing my skills in this wonderful craft, but the entire process is therapeutic. More on my projects later.🙂

For now I will post a few images and later, as I continue on this fascinating journey.

First up are a few images from the last roll I just developed using the very capable and fun to use Nikon F80(seriously) with the Nikon 50/1.8.G lens;

From a walk on our trail newest home:l using expired Legacy Pro 100 film and DD-X developer:

I had occasion to drop my car off for some service work this morning, which always means a bus ride back home and usually a nice walk in the process. So I loaded a pack of Polaroid 600 B&W into the Polaroid SLR670x by MiNT and consumed it on a 50 minute walk after I got off the bus.

Darkroom Print 3 Hot Rodded Pentacon Six by Nokton48, on Flickr

Back in the day this was the hottest Pentacon Six to be found anywhere. I sent a pair of these bodies to Pentacon in Dresden and they upgraded them to full Exakta 66 MK2 mode. The body was then covered with "Rollei SL66 Anniversary Diamond Rubber" which I procured from the Rollei factory. The Strap Lug Attachment was made for the EX66. Photograph made in my studio by direct flash. Hasselblad 100mm F3.5 Planar, 70mm Kodak Surveillance Film, processed in ADOX Borax MQ. Silver B&W print on RC paper

There's something about film... even when out of focus or overexposed or underexposed or grainy, if the images are reasonably well composed, they still come out telling a story in a compelling way. Maybe it's the process, maybe it's because each photo is unique, not one of several, or maybe it's simply because I spend more of myself taking them.

Both of the below photos where taken in late 2019, both with a Nikon F80 and a Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 AF and none would have been considered good enough for anything had they been taken with a digital camera, at least not by me. Still, with film, they gain personality. The b&w photo (Ilford XP2 Super) is grainy and the colour photo (Portra 160) was 2 stops underexposed. Anyway, here they are.

Maybe I'm the only one who likes them.

Oh... I've bought an as new Nikkor 50 mm f/1.8 AF-S, and I have lots of film in the fridge. Now I need to fix the F80 or buy another F-Something.
