These are fin examples with the XF8mmf3.5. I have yet to achieve any really sharp captures (on my X-T4) and I am sending the lens back. Very smeary edges, low contrast and weak rendering. My six years old XF10-40 wide open creates sharper captures. Perhaps I have a bad copy?

Hi there Louis,

I'm sorry - that's really too bad.
On close examination I too can see some smearing especially in the lower right corner. And some odd distortion but that could be me not holding the camera 'perfectly' level.
With not too many shots yet it's rather early days to tell if it is bothering me.

Hope you can swap your poor copy for a better one.

All the best.

It was seeing results like this, especially when I view it full screen and zoom which made me return my copy. I couldn't generate a photograph this good. I may try another copy in a few months time. For now, I will have to get creative with the 10-24.

Well - I hope you have better luck next time, Louis.
It shouldn't happen but apparently lemons do slip through QC.

LOVE THE TUBE - and as a Londoner, I really do, ever since I was a little boy. One time I was shooting the breeze with a group of wrinklies like me and we posed the question, "What is the job you most would like to have done in life?" and we all pretty much answered "Tube train driver!"
X-T4, XF18-55mm, iso160, 55mm, f9.0, 1/6sec (OIS and IBIS engaged!).

 One time I was shooting the breeze with a group of wrinklies like me -> Dutch translation by Google: Een keer fotografeerde ik de wind met een groep rimpels zoals ik . . . o_O

It begs the question: what have you been smoking ?!

Thank you, Bart. It's a very nice focal length and a lens I hadn't thought about but now my interest is piqued. I just purchased a Pentax 645 A 150mm f3.5 and it is just stunning. I'm using a Kipon adapter which is very well built and is machined so that I can reach infinity( it's the one issue I worried about ). Bought the lens from a shop in Japan (Top Mint condition) for $139.00. An unbelievable bargain for such a stunning lens. At f5.6 it is extremely sharp into the corners. Very flat field, no apparent focus shift, well controlled CA and fairly light at 747g including the adapter. What's not to like? I have been looking for prime lenses to fill the GFX gap from my 110 all the way out to 250mm.

Thanks again.....

Well, the Sigma at 1130 g is by no means a featherweight. But then it has AF en it does F1.8 and has its optimum at F2.8 for center and edge (according to lenstip.com).
And it close focuses at 0,8 mtr and it covers 44x33 completely without vignetting ...
