For my project of Frankensteining my Sinar X camera, I would like to know if it is possible to set the aperture of a lens in DB mount using the aperture ring on the DB mount ?

TIA,
Rafael

No, unfortunately. The aperture can only be adjusted via the Sinar auto shutter. That's why many lenses in the Sinar DB mount are cheaper than those in manual shutters, such as Copal.

However, I think the DBM mount (with an 'M'), one can disengage the lock on the aperture ring to manually operate the aperture (I think).

Cheers,
Duff.

What you seek is DB-M boards, which have the functionality you seek. Since the first behind the lens shutter did not have the Aperture whosit, those boards allowed use with either version of the shutter.

and, as a fellow Sinar owner (with DB mounted lenses) - you have no idea how much you want the later shutter and DB boards. Sure, the shutter is not cheap, but it is next level awesome for camera operation. when I am using my Handy and have to reach around and cock the shutter, set the speeds, open and close aperture for focus etc….well…I long for that big weird ol’ Copal….
