I have an Imagon in a helicoid mount that had a tremendous amount of internal flare, despite its black interior. I tried FlockBoard, but the fuzz always ended up on the sensor. Finally settled on Fineshut-SP from Japan which worked wonders. Cost me $11, but the shipping was triple that [to the US].

This is what I've gone with, the Black 4.0 paint was pretty not black in IR, whereas they have options that are actually IR absorbent.

Thank you all for the feedback. I have just ordered the Fineshut SP. I
will work with it. You can't have enough of these materials lying around in the photo studio.
I also have a large bottle of Black 4.0 etc.

However, I think that in this case the problem is not with the Kipon adapter.
I have just done a comparison with the 120 Asph on the Phase One XF, without and with the lens hood.
The XF is really ultra black on the inside. The result is the same, see pictures.

I suspect that the large image circle of the 120 Asph needs a little more love when dealing with stray light.
Incidentally, the test image looks much more harmless than it is.
Diffuse backlight, far beyond the image section, under these conditions most lenses reach their limits.

Update: I have now been able to track down the culprit.
The already useless electrical contact box and the rearmost part of the lens are reflecting.
I put a few snippets of black velvet foil (for testing) inside and the flare was gone.
I will have to improve the inside of the lens with the Fineshut SP as soon as I have it.
It's a shame that Phase One/Schneider didn't get it right from the start, kind of embarrassing for a so-called “high-end” manufacturer, isn't it?
With cheap adapters I can live with such problems, but in this case I find it very sad.

On the upside, you found the culprit before it impacted an important picture. Look forward to seeing a picture of the lens after you've had a chance to apply the Fineshut SP.
