Hi Bill, that 'noisy' shot shows no ISO value (f/8, 1/400s), while the 'clean' shot shows ISO 1600 (f/8, 1/6s). How does this MS work ?

When I use File Info in PS, for the noisy shot I get:

and for the clean shot I get:
1769756715631.png
so offsetting 6 stop differences in shutter speed and ISO

Some fun with Multi Shot on the SL3. Both shots APO 50mm at f5.6 and maximum ISO - 100,000. The first is the straight shot (obviously!) and the second the Multi Shot which is completely noise free. Shown at 100%. I think I may use MS a lot in future!

Thanks for posting. A remarkable difference!

Have you happened to try multishot yet for landscapes (or other finely detailed subjects) to gauge the additional perceived resolution, and also how multishot renders this detail (ie, does it do it “naturally”)?

Is the multi-shot a raw or a jpg file?

Indeed a remarkable difference between the two, the clean shot almost looks "too clean" to my eyes.

I sometimes find the same "too clean" with Topaz, I then blend a dirty and a clean shot together in photoshop to make it look more natural. I find that works better than reducing the denoise strength in the Topaz tool itself.

Well, I misunderstood the SL3 and Multi Shot. You cannot use it at high ISOs. I set the ISO at 100,000, took a straight (not MS) shot and then switched to MS. It reset the ISO to 1600, unnoticed by me. So the value of MS in removing noise isn't much - ISO 1600 is already clean in single shot mode.

I will post some more tomorrow, including a look at detail/resolution.

Multi Shot revisited. These two files were processed with C1 defaults. The first is MS, the second simply a straight shot. There is so little noise in the latter that it looks as good as the MS shot. It is shown at 100% whereas the MS shot is at 50%.
However, despite identical C1 settings, the MS shot shows a tiny bit wider dynamic range, particularly in the lower range.S1004433.jpgS1004435.jpg

OK - having dealt with the noise issue, here are a couple of examples of resolution, though pixel peeping a jpg is nothing like the real thing.
