Merry Christmas and/or happy holidays to all. My M9 came yesterday. Here's a few from this morning. I haven't got the autofocus figured out; so, they're a work in progress. M9 w/35mm f/1.4. Cheers

Really nice Matt. The isolation on the cat in that first one is terrific. Congrats on the M9... now I'm truly jealous! And Merry Christmas to you.

Lloyd: Thanks. She just climbed up there and sat for about a minute (taking a rest from her stocking full of catnip treats). It's fun to have a Leica M camera again. This one seems really special. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Cheers.

GlennB: Happy Holidays to you also.

I love the signature of that 35/1.4 on the M9. That combo is a keeper!

Half a meter of snow last night - on top of what we had. Itīs starting to look good. So, after shoveling, there was no way around it. My daughter, the dog and I into the woods. We started at 1 pm, so the sun was already beginning to set halfway into the trip. An absolutely grand day; triceps aching, dog sleeping like he was dead - everybody feeling great. Happy holidays everybody!

Your nephew is one very cool customer! :-)

Thanks Lloyd! And yes; skiing is great fun. And I find it gives a feeling of balance and movement that I donīt experience in any other context. Iīm a very clumsy person. :-)

Several from this morning on a cold lakefront. The geese are hanging out in the water as the outside temperature was 14 degrees.

Kurt, You are brave to be out in the bitter cold... You captured the beauty of Wisconsin in a season that I don't see. #1 is my favorite. I love those low hanging clouds over the water.

LOL. I know just how that works. Our dogs are jealous of any attention we give other dogs, and even of the attention we give our grandchildren at times. When our granddaughter was a newborn, and my wife would hold her, one of our dogs would get up on the sofa and try to wiggle in between my wife and the baby.

Lovely shots, btw. Wonderful use of DOF on the second one.

hookonclassic: Very nice. Thanks for posting. I like them both. I'm going to have to look at a topographic map of Malaysia.

leif e: Nice shots. I like the first one with both subjects in focus.

Lloyd: Thanks. I'm getting used to focusing again. The M9 has a larger metering area then the M8 and I'm finding it a little tricky (under-exposing).

JimCollum: The creamy B & W's great. Maybe, IMHO, works best with the first "dreamy" (thanks Osman) photo.

Beautiful scene, Leif. And exactly the temperature we had here this morning at 6 am. We have fog, and gloom, so not nearly as photogenic.

My wife and my mother on Christmas Day at about 1:30pm, the lights of the Christmas tree reflecting in Mom's glasses. This with the M8 and the 35 Cron ASPH:

And here's my mother several hours later that same day, after she tripped on the sidewalk in front of her home, landing flat on her face. Her glasses shattered, cutting a large gash over her eyebrow. Fortunately, her eye was not affected. She spent a couple of hours in the ER, and they took an MRI of her head, but she's apparently ok, just very banged up. How quickly things can change!

This taken by my Dad with a pocket digicam.

Geesh Lloyd! I was admiring that wonderful image of your mom & wife & then my Heart Sunk on the second shot! Im so glad she wasn't seriously injured!
I've been through quite a few of those with my (departed) mom & it's devastating! That first shot is so nice, especially with the tree reflection in her glasses! Please give her my best!

This thread is full of extreme talent! Im not posting anything with my new M9 until i produce something worthy!

    cmb_ Many thanks, much appreciated.

Steve, Thank you, my friend. She's doing well, all things considered. Just misses her glasses... and the $375+ it's costing to fix them! ouch x 2!

Just back from a trip to Cairo, so I'll be posting those for a while here. Went with M8 and M9 and a variety of lenses but carried the 35 Lux ASPH and 21 Elmarit pre-ASPH most of the time.

She spent a couple of hours in the ER, and they took an MRI of her head, but she's apparently ok, just very banged up. How quickly things can change!

This taken by my Dad with a pocket digicam.
Lloyd: Beautiful photo of your wife and mother. The second was horrible. Glad she's OK. My mother turned 87 in mid-December and I worry. Best wishes for her speedy recovery. Cheers.

Nick: +1. Very nice work. Beautiful color and light. Looking forward to more posts. I'd be curious as to which are M8 and which are M9. Cheers.

Thank you Matt. Much appreciated. My mother is 79, and is still going strong, but I can't help but worry. By the way, I found out that she was actually running to catch my Dad, who was about to drive away in the car!! Running?!?(Apparently her purse was in the car, and she thought she'd need it before he returned.) She said it was the first time in many years, and said, "it actually felt good, until I fell." Go figure.

Hard to keep a good women down! My mother bought the house next door to us and lives there by herself. She's close but independent. Cheers.

A couple from Seattle's Pike Place Market. Still getting the feel of the camera and PP. Thanks for looking. Cheers.

What a traffic in so little time!
Lloyd, I'm very sorry for that mishap your mom has gone through, I wish her a speedy recovery. The first shot is a masterpiece.
Nick, I'm awed by your photos. Thank you.
    C_R, very nice bw conversion.
Matt, striking shots on one of my favorite subjects.
    Best,

I took the M8 as a backup, it didn't have to leave my hotelroom safe.
