Lots of hazy these days. We need a storm to clear it out. This was on the way to an appointment this morning.

Thanks Steve. Pretty much straight out of the camera. I'm just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah currently.

Since he's too modest to toot his own horn, I thought I'd give a heads up about our fellow forum member 2x2, who's just published a very impressive book of photos, all taken with the Leica M8.

The book can be previewed online HERE.

I'd suggest you view it fullscreen.

Where did you find the 90/2.8 Hexanon Lloyd? You are using it well. I bought mine when I was living in Japan, and I have always been impressed at how well-built and highly-performing it is.
My photos are here: http://www.stuartrichardson.com and more recent work here: http://stuartrichardson.tumblr.com/ Please have a look at my book!

Thanks Stuart. I've wanted one for some time now, as I have the same opinion. I saw this one come up for sale on Rangefinderforum.com's classified a while back. Bought it within the first minute it was posted. I have 4 90mm M lenses, but I tend to default to this one these days.

LOL. Yeah, ok... he's not around these parts much anymore. Owns a couple of car dealerships here, and comes up to see his in-laws on occasion, but spends most of his time in Louisiana.

What's funny is that a number of years ago (like about 20), I was asked to be "background" in the weight-room (along with a couple of other guys from our gym) while they shot a TV special about Karl and his weight lifting routine. The producer saw me in the gym and said I had the "perfect triceps" for their piece. Had me on the cable machine behind Karl while they interviewed him... my "15 minutes" I guess.

Thanks Corlan. I've killed more than a little time with that book. It's Cyclops, by Albert Watson, who I think is an absolutely amazing photographer (he has over 200 covers for Vogue, and more than 40 covers for Rolling Stone).

Re: The All New More and More Fun With Digital M Images

Steve/Lloyd/DavidE: Thanks for your kind comments.

DavidE: At first, I thought that was one of Steve's MMA photos! Great photos. I'm glad you explained why Casio did it. Gotta love Vegas. At least once a decade. Also, that shot of the ride at Circus Circus is very nice

Steve: Those are great. Nice PP and composition. I like the "pinhole" effect in the first and the spatial layering in the second that leads you back to the cook at the left. The reflections are intriguing. Are those billboards across the street?

Lloyd: Nice landscape and closeups. That's a pretty sweet lens. I like the book photo with the razor thin DOF. Looks cold in SLC. Thanks for the ref to "City Life". His photos are excellent.. Blurb's great.

    Cheers,

This ain't art, but it's been keeping me busy and I'm finding the process of cutting Pine on my property to be enormously satisfying so I thought I'd share a few snapshots.

I'm working with an experienced woodsman and learning something every day. Right now he cuts and I twitch the logs out of the woods and pile them up for the portable sawmill that will come later. The numbers on the ends of the logs are estimates of board footage contained in the log. Right now, there's about 2,000 board feet piled up and when we get to around 4k, we'll call the sawyer. By the time we're done, we're hoping to have a total of about 30,000 to 40,000 board feet cut and sawn. Oh yeah, and I sleep really well at night!

    Excellent shots all!

Matt, you're killing me with those Noct shots. Tim, the winter air doesn't seem so cold when you are involved in strenuous work.

Here's a morning commute shot on the way in this morning with the M9 and 35lux ... through a salty windshield.

Kurt, you better be careful!!! Big Brother is at work in your area! That 35 lux reveals that those street lights are actually scanners checking the passing cars!! That telltale, nearly vertical, and very narrow beam from each light source is the giveaway.

No, NO!! Washer fluid is part of the conspiracy... it's designed to conceal those telltale signs the lux reveals!

Kurt -- funny, we had exactly the same idea today. I took this just before 1pm...not so much light right now, which is why I don't have that many photos lately...

Not an artsy photo, but that is the view on the way back from the camera store.

Be careful Stuart. Looks like there's a scanner directly in front of you there. Seems to be emitting a yellow beam.

Actually, there is a speed cam/scanner directly to my right, out of frame. The in front should be red....if it was yellow I would be barreling through the intersection with little or no concern for myself or others.

Wow! That is a truly great photo. Leica could use this image to sell a boatload of M9 and Noctilux combos. Well done, Matt (as the British like to say it).

Two more from the recent CES trip, both with the 50 lux.

The first was shot just outside the South hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The second is from a glass-encased exhibit at the Hard Rock Cafe.

I agree David, that is even sexy, and thank you for reminding us of that.

Thanks, Lloyd. Here's another sunset shot taken a few minutes later, again with the 50 lux.

    Thanks Tim!

Sturart, it's a shame that the winter light is so short with such a beautiful winter landscape in the background. Hopefully you are buying something good at the camera store.

Not an artsy photo, but that is the view on the way back from the camera store.
Also taken with the M9 and 35lux.

A wonderful mix of color. And proof that it's not always best to have perfect White Balance.
