I think that just might be an understatement... truly.

Ashwin: The stuff you've posted here leaves me speechless. And, my guess is you've singlehandedly raised the price of used 135 Elmars!

John: Beautiful portrait. Love the processing

Matt: Tough place to have to go and actually work!! Gorgeous light. That 50 Cron really sings in your hands.

Jeff: Wonderful images from Dover. Great light. Looking forward to much more from Jolly Old

    Dierk: Absolutely brilliant portraits!

Anyone I missed... I loved your stuff too!

It's difficult to keep posting 'nice photos' because it's difficult to keep up ... there are so many wonderful photos that keep this fantastic thread going. Anyway, great job everyone.

Day 2 with the Noctilux and the M9 at the Winter Pow Wow held every year in Wisconsin. Lots of participants from the Menominee, Oneida and a number of other tribes. Participants dance the afternoon away ... chanting and drumming to thousands of year old songs and rhythms. Despite the colorful pageantry, I tried to convey the emotion and human-connectedness of the gathering in black and white. Hopefully, I was successful.

Really nice set, Kurt. Reminds me of home.

I like the b/w white, but would love to see some in color too.

While I'm in London for March, I'm living in a flat not far from St. Paul's. I had a beautiful day today so I spent a few hours wandering around the area. I love the lighting this time of year in London; the low angle of the sun provides some nice illumination. I used the Tri-Elmar-M 28-35-50 "MATE" today. It's a great lens for a trip about on a bright day like today.

Beautiful day indeed. Seems like there are more blue-sky days in London this time of year than any other, if memory serves. Love the amazing blue you've captured... beautiful color.

I really like the composition of the last image. The stairs in the foreground really impressive in that focal length.

    Very nice indeed, Jeff.

Thanks, Lloyd. I have to say that sunny blue skies are rare in London, period, but I have had more this time of year than any other.

A bit more blue. It's helped by underexposing the sky, as I don't want to blow the whites and creams of the church. This is St. Mary le Bow.

A different view of St. Paul's, with some nice greens:

The London skyline from the restaurant at the top of the Tate Modern:

And finally the Millenium Bridge, in a slightly different view:

    All with the MATE.

exactly, what I want to say, Kurt.

I like your pictures, for me as a new M-member they look "typical Leica"
I wonder, how you get that focus with f/1.4 and that narrow DOF.

We spent the weekend in Wiltshire finalising the sale of my parents' house. We had a night in a nearby hotel that we have stayed at before and spent some time in a lovely town named Marlborough.

Took some pictures of my girls whilst out and whilst getting bored in the hotel waiting to have dinner.

Hi, all! Haven't posted in a while--went on vacation to the California desert and then went back to work and paid for it...

Anyway, here's a sampling of what I snagged in Joshua Tree National Park. Hope those that went had a good workshop at the neaby Salton Sea.

First three w/M8, 35 v.4 Summicron, last with 90/3.5 CV Lanthar.

Re: The All New More and More Fun With Digital M Images

My gosh, some seriously awesome pics have been posted here...

@ Lloyd: You are too kind. The Tele-elmar is one of my new favs, one of the true bargains, and great since, there are frame lines on the M9!

@Dierk: Keep up the great work. Terrific posts. The last in your series is a bit too HDR-ish to me, but otherwise, supremely composed. Great sunset/sunrise pics

    @Boymerang: Lovely portrait work

@Simon: Great series, and lovely bw portraits

@ Matt: These scenes are so familiar, part of my daily bike ride home, yet you bring a gentle touch and handling of light that is remarkable.

I know I am forgetting to comment on more than a few, but agreed here with Steve that this is one ROCKIN' thread!

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled....

    Of course,

Jeff, lovely caps: Colors rock. I am discovering the joys of shooting with the MATE as well.

Kurt: Lovely, as usual! The new Noct suits your style well.

Peter: The last shot, Literature, is spectacular....

I just realized that I have some work to do in scrolling through the other 135 odd pages to get a sense for the amazing work shown in this thread!

Mike, I have to say I really like the color version of that first shot--there's a richness of the light that's just lost in the B&W version.

Was contemplating selling my Canon 50/1.2 to fund a 35 Summicron v4, but using it yesterday, it's not that much a "dog" as others say it is... or else I got a very good copy (looks like my quest to go wider than 50 will take a bit longer...)

All jpegs straight from M8 (except a little cropping in the first)

    at f8

BTW, looking at the portrait of my wife, at the left side, there seems to be vertical lines visible. Comparing it with my other shots, nearly the same angle, just a few seconds apart, there are no lines... what caused those?

Shot a wedding exclusively with the M8 and 50/1.2 (assistant handled the DSLR stuff). Here are a few from it...

This one processed with the film types in Nik Color Efex

I know shooting against the light is a no-no, but this one kinda worked

BTW, looking at the portrait of my wife, at the left side, there seems to be vertical lines visible. Comparing it with my other shots, nearly the same angle, just a few seconds apart, there are no lines... what caused those?
It looks like there is a guy standing there wearing a striped shirt. He moved for the other shots.

Nice set of images, BTW. Great colors.

    Hi Matt,
thank you for your comments. The NDSM yard is a former shipyard in Amsterdam. I recognized the place from Jaap's pictures.
Sorry for my late reply, but with this 'picture avalanche' in this otherwise great thread, I find it very difficult to keep track

    Kind regards.

Great New York shots, David. What lens were you using?

Thanks, Jeff. Those were shot with the 18mm Super-Elmar, which was my favorite lens on the M8. I haven't settled into using the 18mm on the M9 just yet.
