I feel bad that I haven't been able to keep up with this thread lately, but let me say that every picture that has been posted since I last managed to be here has been superb.

See what you feel about this one. M8.2 with 50/1.4, 1/125th @ f/1.4.

I normally expect the nearest eye to the camera to be the one in focus. Does the fact that I selected the furthest eye, and with such narrow DOF, seem jarring or make the picture seem odd to look at?

I like it but it isn't in keeping with normal portrait guidelines for focus.

Thank you Endre. I feel very fortunate to have witnessed the brief but beautiful display of fall color in this remote area.

You're right, Jono. Lots of great stuff here... as your wonderful images attest. Great lens indeed, and wonderfully implemented.

Lovely shot . . . but surely it wasn't shot at f1. I had a noctilux, and a this range, at f1, the depth of field was almost nothing. the fact that the hands and face are in focus at that range certainly doesn't feel like F1

A couple of attempts at pointing the camera at plants, well one is of a plant and the other of a palm tree. The first was with a 75mm and the second with a 50mm. Both M8 images. Both images seem to fit my process better than some others.

    Hi All,

    I trust all is well.

After a very busy work period I had a week off in NYC last week. The weather was not ideal but we had a fantastic time. I am slowly going through my shots so will post some in dribs and drabs.

I only took the M8 and 35 Summicron ASPH and never once felt like I needed anything else. The pair went to Leica for a lens/finder alignment whilst I was too busy to do much else than work and they are really perfectly in sync now.

and if so, aren't you a little young to have a noctilux . . and is that an ice-lolly in your hand?

    Hi Jono,

Thanks, that is the interior of an old pub called 'Mc Sorley's Ale House' if I remember the name correctly. It is situated in the East Village area and is totally unlike anything else I had seen there. There was sawdust on the floor and when you order a beer you get two!

    Hello Jono,
the best age for a Noctilux is between 3 and 99 years.

My avatar is a crop from a shot with 2,8/135. The google was adjusted and thatīs the reason for the incorrect focus point.

But i love this shot - and iīm happy like a child when i play with my M8.
Thatīs the reason why i use this pic as my avatar.

And yes itīs a ice-lolly, but not my hand.

Thank you Steve. When your subject matter is this good, not to mention the Parliament blue of the evening, ending up with nice photographs is inevitable, even for a starter like me.

Osman, you shouldn't be showing shots like that, it isn't kind. Partly because you'll make us all want the lens, but mostly because we'll all want to go to Istanbul!

Steve - fab bird shot - the bokeh is lovely - those summarit lenses are obviously a great deal. The only pity with the 75 is that it doesn't focus so closely.

M8 as sports camera. Fittingly, a "retro" lens (50 rigid cron) for a new "retro" ballpark (citi "aka ebbets" field). best...Peter

Thanks Jono, yea the only niggle I have with it is its 2.5 and it doesnt focus as close as the 50 Lux - Ill have a 75 Cron or Lux one day...

I don't know how many of you have seen the results of a major fire. This is the scene of a fire that consumed a brand new 4 story hotel. The fire is presumed to be an arson. The men are police detectives who specialize in investigation of arson cases.
M8 with Leica 28/f2.8 Elmarit ASPH, processed with Lightroom and Silver Efex Pro.
    Thanks for looking.

Made a quick detour to take in this fine scene yesterday (1st picture). Then, while trying to get quickly back on my way I encountered this not so fine scene (picture 2). Both M8.2 with 28 2.8ASPH.
