At the time I'd just woken up, had neither glasses nor contacts, if you take pictures with rangefinders without these things, and they come out, then I'd call that luck

I'd rather be lucky than good!

I'll try shooting without my glasses today, and we'll see how it goes.

Ha...actually the leaves were green but I changed them using a Color Efex filter called "Indian Summer" as I liked the look of the yellow leaves better

Also, this was shot with the 35 Summilux at 1.4 - wide open! Love this lens as well as the 90.

    Thanks!

Thanks Jono. Yes, she is great but she already told me..I CAN BUY NO MORE LENSES! Also, to buy the 90 (which I really really like) I did some lens swapping. Swapped my silver 50 Lux towards a Zeiss Sonnar 50 and the 90 Summicron APO and only paid a couple hundred difference. Not bad...

I may still swap my 28 cron for a 24 elmarit, but that would be an even trade.

    Thanks again!

Ah yes - the terrible lens lust. The trouble with changing them, is that you want the one you got rid of back again! At the moment I have:

    15 CV
    WATE
    25 zeiss
    28 'cron
    35 'cron
    50 sonnar
    75 'cron
    90 elmarit

This has been settled now since I bought the 28 'cron in january, and before that for almost a year. One thing I have learned is that big lenses get left behind !

This is my favorite of the series. Beautiful image. (I was sorry you edited it from the first post, but glad I had the link in the email) I'll just bet the print was stunning! Great work.

(BTW, I enjoyed your review of the 35 lux. Good stuff.)

It is a great shot, and one of the reasons I love the 35/1.4...but you are adding the vignetting right? The 35/1.4 ASPH should not vignette that much...particularly on the M8...

I have to echo what Lloyd said, it's a beautiful image, and my favorite one of the series (so far). I like the way her left foot points in. It gives the photo a more casual feel.

It's difficult to see what you're doing with the 35 lux, what Jaap is doing with the 24 lux, and what Jono is doing with the Zeiss 25, and not want to buy more lenses. Must resist urge to buy another lens (must... pay... off... home... repair... bills... instead...).

Hmm well, the zeiss is cheap as chips (1/3 price of the 35, and 1/5 price of the 24) it's probably sharper than either of them too (perhaps it's not quite as subtle however).

Cheap is good (or at least cheap in relative terms). Are you able to use the 24mm framelines in the built-in viewfinder?

Absolutely, and it's coded as a 24mm elmarit as well (John Milich did the coding).

Nothing wrong with the lens or the photograph (both lovely), but what have you done to your son that he'll pose? . .. I have three of the buggers, and trying to take a photograph of them is more difficult than getting a saddle on the horse!

Trying to figure out which types of images are best suited to this new way of processing. This one didn't quite work with color or standard B&W. Seems to work better with a higher-contrast look. Shot with the 18mm.

Like a hammer that sees everything as a nail, I apply a similar processing to different images until I find one that fits. Been kicking this one around for a while.

Thanks, Lloyd. The processing seems to enhance the three-dimensional quality of the image, especially with the 18mm shots that have a full-frame depth of field.

    David, they're all great, grand job with the conversions . . . have you tried silver efex-pro for the black and white . . it's gloriously . . . erm . . . glorious!

    Lloyd and Steve
thanks for the kind comments - I'm not really a fan of HDR, and I'm never convinced by magic bullets (programs which will magically fix your shot). So that one was to conversions (one 2 stops over, one 2 stops under) combined in photoshop. I could have done it better, but that took about 3 minutes.

I have tried it, though I haven't progressed much beyond the defaults. I should dig into it deeper.

Here's one where I used the new processing, and then ran it through Silver Efex Pro for good measure.

Ah Helen, it's TWO favorite lenses, the dreamy delicate f1.5 and the brutal sharp f2.8 and onward.

Also, it's tiny and lovely to use.

    fab!

    Just this guy you know

Thanks Helen! Yea, I love it already and realized after seeing some images with it a couple of weeks ago that I like the signature of the sonnar more than I did the 50 Lux. Now, the 50 lux is perfection, but sort of clinical as it is sooooo sharp.

This sonnar is not as sharp as the lux but I love how it draws. Plus, the size is a plus.

    Thanks!

I see what you mean about this lens. It draws really nicely. Sharp with a fine grain, without being cold or clinical. Good choice.

OK, just got the 18mm super elmar. I need time to get to learn the lens, but thought I'd post a quick first outing shot. Converted in Silver Efex Pro.
