    Simon

    Yes, you can embed images.
    Click on the Paperclip icon (Attachments)
    A new window will open (Manage Attachments) - Click the Browse Button and find the file you want to upload.
    Then Click on the Upload Button.
    After it is uploaded, place the cursor where you want the image in your message, then click on the Paperclip Icon again and click on the filename in the list. The image will be placed in your text.

    Re: Fun time / M8 images

    Simon, if you want to insert images from your website or URL use the Insert Image Icon (the yellow square that looks like a mountain).

    This one:

    Attachment 1153

    When you click on the Insert Image icon a dialog box will appear. Enter the URL.

    Also, Take a look at the Image Gallery on this site. You can upload images to the Image Gallery and then link to the Image Gallery from within your posts. This works very well. I can send you some instructions to help you get started if you need them.

    I like the Snowy Hillside image on the front page of your website. Very nice.

    Excellent... let's try again.

    Here's a shot taken at Lake Chilliwack in BC with the M8 and CV 12mm lens.
    Attachment 1154

    This shot was taken from Quadra Island looking back to Campbell River, BC. M8 and (I think) the CV 75mm.
    Attachment 1155

    Finally a shot of the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. M8 and CV 12mm.
    Attachment 1156

    More M8 shots may be seen on my website.

    Cheers,

    Thanks!

    I'll keep posting but right now these are the only shots I have access to as my MacBook Pro has a HDD problem (the horror, the horror!). I've got a new 320GB drive coming so I should be back up and running soon (don't you just LOVE TimeMachine?).

    one thing i'm noticing with my recent lenses, the helier 15mm and zeiss 35mm f2, is that the highlights such as from lights or refections are star-shape. i don't recall noticing this on my nikkor lenses. can anyone explain this for me?

    i really love the star-shape effect, and it'd be nice to understand what i'm seeing here. does this star-shape effect suggests a lens that's relatively good at controlling flare?

    IIRC, it comes from the blades of the aperture- more blades make for more star points.

    Well it's not a Boeing Business Jet (re-purposed 737) or executive model 767, so that rules out Guy spending a little quality time with Bill Gates, Warren Buffet or Larry Ellison. The shape of the windows is strange. If they were big ovals, I'd say Gulfstream 4 or 5. There seems to be room for at least 5-6 rows of seats, so it's bigger than a Citation, but maybe Guy's using his CV12 to open up the interior a little. Maybe a Challenger?

    Re: Fun time / M8 images

    Interestingly enough this is a completely carbon fiber aircraft . The main cabin is two pieces with finger groves made in a huge mold machine than they take the two parts and lay more carbon fiber over the groves and bake it again for 8 hours to seal it. Than they take the wings and bolt them on, so if there ever damaged they can be replaced pretty easy. Grob aerospace of Germany . 7.8 mil out the door. I think GetDpI workshops needs one of these.

    Maggie: I am gonna buck the trend here and say I don't care for the sky in that shot... To my eyes on my calibrated monitor it doesn't look natural, and kind of looks over-cooked, like too big a step in an HDR blend --- ?

    ~~~
    Bob: I do like your pastel sky too --- remind me when we're in Moab to show you a nifty little trick to alter it for different effects.
    That's cool by me, and certainly your prerogative as the artist!
    And to be clear, I liked the cloud STRUCTURE, I just felt it didn't quite "fit" the look of the rest of the image...
    IMO the big problem with tone mapping and HDR is the way it lowers contrast to fit the entire range of brightness into the narrower space. So basically, if I were using them, I'd adjust the brightness and contrast in the sky relative to the buildings/foreground so the total lighting in the image appears more balanced. IOW bring back the contrast into a more normal appearing range -- after all, the sun is still out This is a quick and dirty, but gives you the general idea, your original on the bottom for reference:
    FWIW, here's the original, practically straight out of the camera, JPEG:
    So, by trying to bring out some foreground detail, I unbalanced the image...hummm. Must tinker some more.
    I set the white and black points and put a tiny s-curve on it. I also did a perspective correction.
    I think I liked the moodiness of Maggie's original sky better than the other versions. YMMV
