Friday's post. M9 + 35 mm pre asph. chron (v4). 8 second exposure at f4.0 ISO 1250. Leica mini tripod on the hood of my car. No obvious source of illumination - it was a dark overcast night.

Yesterday's post. M8.2 + 24mm Elmar + B+W 092. 1 sec exposure at f16. Two frames stitched.
This is an amazing image, Woody. And all the more so as a stitched image, given all the detail. What did you use to put it together?

(Amazing setting as well... I think I could be lulled to sleep at night by the sound of the water!)

Can't drive in it all all, Lloyd. Our neighborhood still hasn't see a plow. But, we walked to church this morning! The front door, interior and a courtyard statue...

Thanks!

On stitching:

I generally keep my Frankenfinder in my pocket to compose. I take each frame twice, checking focus and exposure - a poor shot ruins the series. I stitch in PTGui Pro, AutopanGiga or PS; since my working environment is Lightroom, PS is most convenient but I most frequently use PTGui - I use the other two as backups if PTGui doesn't produce a usable image. I usually hand hold - but in this case I obviously used a tripod, my Leica table top tripod braced against a fence. I don't bother with offsetting to the lens nodal point except for architectural interiors, where a minor shift in point of view can raise havoc. Of course you shoot in manual mode and don't use auto WB - changes in WB or exposure from frame to frame causes serious problems. Shoot beyond the edges of your intended frame - extra image is useful if you true up perspective and you can always crop.

That's all there is to it.

Thanks for the info Woody. Interesting, and useful.

Impressive snowstorm you've had, Reynolds. Thanks for sharing the images, which are beautifully done, btw.

Lloyd, you are always so complimentary!! For a beginner like me, it means a lot. Someday, though, you will have to say, "that stinks"...when it does. Promise??

LOL. I say, "that stinks" about stuff I shoot all the time! No vain flattery here... I calls 'em like I sees 'em. (So I guess that's a promise.)

Dear Reynolds,

Nicely done; Glebe and Old dominion right? Been to a wedding there. We had 25-30" here in McLean.
Yours truly, "digging" out (better half has the shovel! :D ) [M9, 50/1.4]

Woody: Very nice. The tonality and PP on all three are great. The stitched photo's excellent The second shot has a very unique ethereal quality. The light and color in the third's outstanding. "Clear and crisp", as Lloyd said.

Jono: Nice candid moments. Cute kids.

Reynolds/Gogopix: Enjoying your snow photos here in balmy Seattle.

Steve/Alnitak: Thanks.

Cheers,
