I've seen several references to the John Milich adapter, but my searches have failed to locate an explaination. Please educate me, thanks.

What is a Milich adapter?

There are at least two: one allows use of a Leica thread mount lens on an M camera, and has six milled cutouts for lens coding; the other allows use of a smaller UV/IR filter on a a wide angle Tri-Elmar lens on an M8.
