Beautiful photo, Jaap! All it needs is a bit of eye contact.

Here's another captive raptor, this time a Ferruginous Hawk:

Another from yesterday:

This is a non-releasable male American Kestrel at a licensed care and rehabilitation facility. The American Kestrel is one of the smallest falcons but he's still 100% falcon. Mouse, beware!

I really do need to get a long lens. Combine a lot of woodland/open field combos (a.k.a bunny and mickey buffet) and the fish ladder on the lake, we have a bevy of bald eagles, owls and various other birds of prey literally on the property and in the area. Oh, and ravens the size of turkeys.

You know they're big, but you still stand there a little slack-jawed when you see them swoop down and take-off with abandoned (for tenderizing) soup bones our 170lb Irish Wolfhounds find sized 'just right'.
