Re: The Latest & Greatest Fun w/Digital M Images

[QUOTE=Mike Woods;267145]Apologies for lack of comments lately. I check in regularly (for inspiration mostly - and you all provide plenty of that ), but often feel unqualified to comment ... I know what I like, if that makes sense, and I guess it's often easier to say nothing than comment on genres I know nothing about

Which brings me to these offerings from yesterday, M8 and 35mm 'cron. Now, I'm not a landscape photographer and the conditions were far from ideal. The only thing I have in common with landscape photogs is that I was prepared to get up early, drive for an hour, and walk around in -6 degrees for 5 hrs

For disclosure purposes these are very heavily pp'd, and my interpretation of what I saw, but I find the M8 files (in conjunction with LR3) very malleable. As always happy to receive both good and bad observations:

    superb!
    Endre

Went back over the shots from my New York trip in October. Managed to turn up a few worth processing.

The first and last are with the 18mm Super-Elmar. The middle one is with the 24 lux.

Re: The Latest & Greatest Fun w/Digital M Images

    Thanks Lloyd and ceh.

I'm always amazed that I can go back and find more good photos after I've already searched through a batch. I wonder how in the world I could have missed them on that first pass. Sometimes it's a matter of processing the image differently. Other times I just completely miss the potential in an image.

And in the south of Sweden it is today -7

I took a walk with the M9 and the 24 elmar. Since it was freezing cold I cut it short and I honestly didn't make more than half a dozen exposures. This one I liked the most.

What I forgot to write is that I did absolutely nothing in pp. I opened it in raw and saved it as is! This is extremely unusual for me, but here I did zero - except the crop to square ofcourse....

Great shot indeed. And great to see that one can also do great work with the "old" 24 and does not need the LUX

This shot shows that whenever the M8 or M9 nail WB then this is really outstanding. Issue is that I remember a lot of shots where my M8 unfortunately failed in that respect.
