Mike: Excellent captures! They all made me smile. Probably #'s 2, 3, and 4, the most. Also, thanks for the comment and for the links to Stuart and Turpin. BTW, your website is terrific. Cheers, Matt

Lloyd, thank you very much - I have to thank LR3 for the conversions

Matt, I love the chess game - great use of selective focus.

And something about this....disturbing in a way, but mesmerising at the same time....

Ok, a few more from today. Inspiration is from Matt Stuart and Nick Turpin, if you know their work - street photography with humour, you could say.

I am so loving this experience since I got the M8 I can't begin to tell you. I'm the first to accept I'm not very good (reluctant to get too close, etc etc), but happy to be out there and learning.

All with Nokton 50mm f 1.5, this time in colour:

I hope at least one makes you smile - thanks for looking.

    Regards

    Mike
Some very nice shots here Mike. I particularly like this one.

Since Lloyd has been the backbone for this thread and previous, I will comment briefly.

    Great images from everyone.
    Osman, great series.

I will try to get sometimes to take some images with the longer lens with the M9 and share here.

After leaving the Küre Mountains National Park, we traversed these mountains to reach the Black Sea again. On our way we passed Küre, a town that existed precariously just beneath the copper concentration plant that shared the same name; its inhabitants facing higher risk of cancer due to this behemoth up above:

The copper ore reached the plant via a cable-car system that ruled the forest-covered mountain peaks:

The view was stark and overwhelming:

All that mattered seemed to be the copper ore, nothing else:

Just before we were relieved by the now-familiar serenity of the Black Sea, we had a glimpse of a late afternoon mist that made all meanings ambiguous:

    Manhatten Saturday night.

Really hot (40C / 110F), but lots of people out and in good mood. Went to Union Square and Washington Square where street performs hang out. Acrobats on UnionSq, a band (singer, piano, drums) on WashingtonSq.

    M9, 75mm/1.4; ISO 2,000, then 2,500. 1/125s, f1/4.
This is really pushing the system low-light wise.
The 75-lux is a nice lens, but I have to watch hand-shake, so for fully sharp shots I need typically 1/360 or 1/500. Turned out fine for this purpose.

Osman: Cool photos! The B&W well suits your description. Very nice shot from the moving bus. And, from your description, hopefully you kept moving on. Mining and mineral processing isn't pretty anywhere. The satellite photo on Google Maps shows what you've described. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Matt

mjm6: These are stunning! The IQ is incredible and the processing is perfect for the subject. Beautiful place. Well done.

Re: The Latest & Greatest Fun w/Digital M Images

Hadn't touched the camera in a few weeks. I've been busy with work, and it has been too hot to spend a lot of time outdoors.

My wife asked me to take some photos of the Haflinger she has been riding, so we visited the stable yesterday. These were shot with the 24 lux.

    Excellent set, Mike.

This is my favorite. I like the quirky subject matter, as well as the cluttered, but nicely balanced, composition.
