    Leica M and tele lenses

    Hi!

A question regarding Leica M-cameras and short tele lenses.

I have a three Mamyia 6 cameras that I use extensively when shooting mf film.
I use the 150 mm lenses a lot and have no problem focusing this lens.
The only problem is that it is a bit short.

I am now looking at 35 mm range finder cameras, Voigtländer and Leica.
I some time want a smaller camera...

I some time see 135 mm lenses on ebay.
And there is adapters that take those screw-lenses and convert to M-mount.

But then starts my questions to pop up.
They state that it activates the 35/135 frame.
Does that mean that I can actually focus a 135 mm lens on a M-camera using the rangefinder?
Will the 35 mm frame show the outline for the 135 mm lens, or do I need an external viewfinder?

Or is there another solution if I want to reach past 90 mm?

Thankful for any light on “tele-lens” an M-compatible rangefinders.

The only scary thing is that if this is possible I might see a M9 in the end of this tunnel :-)

    Your understanding is correct.
Film Leica (newer ones) have 135mm frame line together with 35mm line. So you can focus and frame with built in view finder.

If you need more precise focus, you can add 1.25x magnifier (or 1.40x).

M8/8.2, however, do not have 135mm line, instead, it has 24mm line. (M9 does, though)
