Thanks again for all your support. I called Paypal this morning to warn them about this scammer and his multiple ebay accounts but didn't seem to care and they advised me to call eBay instead. They wouldn't budge at all in giving out his personal information to me nor care what kind of info I had and pretty much said that the "specialists" will handle the investigation. Then I tried calling eBay and it seems you cannot report any fraudulent items over the phone lol. You can only report it online on eBay... which I'm trying to figure out how.

And it seems he changed his feeback settings to "private" just now because of the negative feedback I left him. If you are an ebay user, please report this guy if you can. The more complaints, the quicker they'll freeze his accounts.

Scratch that, you can call eBay and report this fraud 1-800-701-3229. I found out he has at least 4 ebay ID's : fruitgirl820 , krisbeaudet731 , treenatasha2008, alexbates83 (thanks Cindy). And I got in contact with one of the buyers and he seemed to be experiencing the same problems I have so I know I'm not going crazy here.

BTW one should not just accept an eBay username as adequate reference without verification. After looking at the username feedback, and hoping to find several high value photo related sales and purchases, I will send a message via eBay to that username to be sure that the seller is not just giving you someone else's eBay name (someone with good feedback). I ask them to reply back via eBay. If they have appropriated someone else's username, they will not be able to do this. (I suppose they could have completely hijacked an account, but I have yet to encounter that.)

Tom,
When I asked for a reference, he gave me the AlexBates83 Ebay username as a reference. He said I could go to Ebay and send him a message and that he would respond. It appears from what Paul found out, that this guy has several Ebay accounts under his control.

Well, at least he was honest to the extent that the eBay account really was his.:angry:Not much solace in that, unfortunately.

I don't know if you can call that honesty.
He was very clever. He knew how to price a lot of gear at prices that were near market value, but attractive.
I hope that Paypal is going after him.

RFF is a good forum and has a lot of the same members as this forum. They have policies (like FM) against policing. I guess they thought the warnings were policing. A person could be mistaken, even though Paul and I were sure this one was a scam (unfortunately after the fact). That is why I didn't want to name names publicly on here.

I think all the points needed on how resolve an issue or what to look for have been made. I didn't know that RFF had a policy of no policing so my post about banning is irrelevant. I think it is now time to close this thread.
