This would be equivalent of about 400 mm if it were full frame. Of course I'll have to print it to see how large it can actually go.

Misha, f11 to keep the nose and ears within dof. ISO 320.

Interesting experiment, and wonderful result. I would be interested in how the a large print works out.

    Winter commute! Not mine, fortunately.

Still getting used to the rangefinder. This is a crop from an attempt at urban composition with the 24 Elmarit. In the end, the only thing interesting was the object that first attracted my attention.

How do I get away from that? I don't see pictures. I see things. I would like to see pictures.

    I know, practice!

Here's the uncropped color version. I tried to do something with the line of posts across the street and the snow covered boxes.

Thanks Lloyd, Steve, Dan, Steve, and Matt.

I wasnít sure I could get any decent pictures from Vegas (since I travel there so often), so itís good to know that these turned out well.

I've shot these City Center stairs a bunch of times over the past year, but this is the strangest one of all. Looks like a screenshot from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

Used the 16mm setting on the WATE.

Daniel: Brilliant, as always! I'm partial to the train tracks. The second's probably a little cliched in concept; but, very good, nonetheless. Great detail, color and compositions.

Love all of them, but these three are my favorite.

Daniel - the train tracks really are the business.

Bill - the Misha shot is wonderful - cropping is something one always needs to keep in mind, with these splendid lenses and no AA filter it's remarkable how far one can go.

Matt - I tihnk I like the cropped bike best - but both work for me - remarkable that the bike is so snowed up - but nothing else is.

David - I like the stairs - great contrast and 'snap' isn't the WATE a beauty on the M9

Woody - your third avenue shot is great - one of my favorites of yours, real class - you need a big staircase so's you can do a huge print of it.

Don't visit the Leica shop at Solms - I was working in Germany, so I made a little visit, and I had a little accident!

Congrats, Jono. I'm afraid that if I went to Solms and came home with one of those, the "accident" I'd have would be administered by my wife when I got home.

Ah well - perhaps it wasn't quite that impulsive (you must remember that I had been considering an S2 - after which a Noctilux seems like a mere bagatelle )

    Jono,

Do you really think the Nocti will protect you from an S2? Worked for me. Getting an M9 and some lenses means i never think about MFDBs, or Alpa, or Pentax 645D, or Leica S2. Nope. Never. Not for a second.

Nice to see your posts as always,

I like both images, Matt. Each has it's on unique appeal. Looks to me like you and the rangefinder are getting along just fine.

Very interesting image, David. Lots of lines and angles, and that shadows add to the effect. Nicely seen.

Woody, this one leaves me speechless. Might be my favorite image ever on this thread (and that's saying something!). Should be printed and displayed large. Great work, counsellor.

Closet to me? Do you mean closest?

Truth is that Emma has also been the accountant these 25 years, so concealment is not an option. Careful tradeoffs is how it goes. But Leica lenses can (almost) be considered as an investment

Emma's the accountant, eh. So, I guess your wireless works from the doghouse? Even at 1:15 in the am.

Nice to see your posts as always,

    Hi Matt
Well, I got clearance from the management to buy an S2 and lenses. But much to the management's amazement I decided that it was unlikely to improve my photography. So the Noctilux isn't so much displacement activity as a consolation prize.

Had a tough day at work on Friday. Decided to get away early. Drove up on the foothills overlooking the valley just to sit and think. Was rewarded with quite a show. Totally unexpected, but it did make me feel better. Here's a sample.
