Dan, these images are AMAZING. At some point, I'll have to pick your brain on how you use the 18 distagon. I am just starting to play with it. Your process and your images are startlingly great, as usual.

Thanks for the kind words, Dan!

Thanks, RAM. I typically do about 90 % of my processing in LR3, and 10% of the B/W stuff using Nik Silver Efex conversions with selective tweaking (Dodge/burn, contrast and clarity adjustments, vignette). I can give you more details, but just PM me! THanks for the kind words...

I just started a course in portraiture and landscapes. First assignment - natural light portrait. Window and reflector sort of thing. Here are two. M9 and 50 Summilux ver1.

Focus misses the eyes here, but I like it anyway.

Another front focus. Not sure if it's the lens or my rangefinder inexperience or both. Serves me right for trying to shoot f/1.4.

    Thanks for this wonderful forum,

    Matt
    Matt,
I like thoe 2 images a lot, very natural, and also very nice light. In this case I dont feel any problem with focus.

    t_streng,
Thank you. I don't think the focus issues hurt the pictures, either. I just wish they were deliberate. My hit rate is not really worse than with AF, but now I feel more responsible for the focus.

    Best,

    Matt

Lloyd, I'd thank you much, but I'd say that that shot still doesn't hold a candle to this one. My daughter and my Mom that was 85 last week! The 35mm Cron ASPH was amazing here! I Was sweating the focus, whether I got it right, but if you wanted, you can go see original size in my gallery, and it's spot on my daughter, which is ok, that softens up the image on Mom some.

First of all I want to say thank you all. I have recieved many positive comments on my images and I have not been praising all the excellent photographers here as often. One reason is that I am not here everyday and when I do get back into the thread, every 4-5 days, so much has happened I do not now where to start! Be asured though, that I enjoy the thread very very much and I often get inspired by images here. Excellent work everybody

I think you'll be happy with that choice, Jason. There is a very special quality to the way that 25 renders... there is a richness that is almost palpable. Jono Slack, a member here, used to post some really amazing images taken with that lens and the M8. Works well on the M9 also. If you do want a 21mm, the VC 21 is actually very nice. I have the LTM version, but the M-mount version is worthy as well. Inexpensive lens, and I prefer it's rendering over the Zeiss, which is rare for me.

Re: The Very Latest & Greatest Fun w/Digital M Images

These are great shots this page. The dogs red snow shoes, are well, humor inspiring, but I can see they are not cut out for cold. Daughter has a 3 pound dog that is not either. I had to clear her a place to go last snow storm. She had ground clearance issues, lol.

I just sold a Zeiss 25mm for Nikon, but then I am selling some less used Nikon gear to help my Leica funding.

That's life, it's all about choices.

I think you're right, Jason. Cute booties on the kids there. Also, perfect exposure and color. Very nice.

    Hi,

M9 has been in NJ for a while, but just back in time for some snow shoeing. Boy that was a big snowball that took him out.....
