All part of trying to finish my course by December 31st deadline! Still have to do a 'glamour' shoot and some photojournalism work... Not really my element but oh well.

Here's one more from today. I should add the two shots in the park had fill from a single strobe off a reflective umbrella, the backdrop shot had main light from a softbox to our left and fill from an umbrella behind right of the camera. This shot is lit by natural light and a gold reflector.

I *think* it was with the ZM C-Sonnar, I have to code my 35/1.2 because having a manual selection in the menu leads me to have every lens corrected as though it were a pre-asph summilux (I forget to switch back to auto), not a good thing.

P.s. Does anyone know if there is a 6-bit code for a pre-asph 35mm Summilux? If so, please share

    That's awesome David, dominating perspective.

Off-topic, to answer my own question, the code for the 35 lux pre-asph is the same as the 35 cron pre-asph.

This is a wonderful portrait, Daniel. I liked the three above as well (the middle one best), but this is special.

Glad you found your answer on the coding. I looked in the couple of places I know of that list codes, and came up empty.

Woody, people can't help but get in shots with the 12mm I really like your shots with that lens.

Thank-you Charles - I've really enjoyed your shots of the coast and the surfers, your warm b/w toning is great for those scenes.

Thanks to you Lloyd, I really liked that one as well, lucky first shot of the day!

Guy, greatly appreciated, I agree wholeheartedly and am annoyed I didn't pick it up myself! I will fix right away - so don't be surprised if the imaged linked to in my post changes and your reply looks slightly out of place - sorry 'bout that.

Steve, love that shot! The kid in the leaves with his feet poking out is great

Ok, so I'm now hopelessly behind on my commenting on images. There have been so many great ones posted today, I wouldn't know were to start. So, hoping I don't miss anyone, David, Steve (sjg), Matt, Peter, Al, CEH, Charles, dannh, Mohammed, Daniel, Woody, Steve. You're all posting amazing images. The level of talent and creativity here never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for the ongoing inspiration.

Two possible images to post for today. If anyone has any preference it would be very helpful. In the garden with M9 + 24mm lux at f1.4 and a .9 nd filter.

Really like both, Woody, and usually I'm a sucker for the grass, wheat, leaves, etc., but if forced to choose, I'd take the first. Especially when considering that this was shot with a 24mm lens. Really stunning.

Thankyou Matt! Love the shots with the 24 lux, fast and wide is such a surreal look at times.

Boymerang those are some great shots, ND filter? Great atmosphere.

Here's a 50 Sonnar shot from Saturday night:

    and a 35 Nokton shot:

For some reason I can handhold the Sonnar slower than the Nokton!? I need to figure out why, maybe the exit pupil is a lot closer to the sensor on the Sonnar, so it is less affected by rotation? I need to test and refine my technique.

This really has been an impressive series. Good stuff. As for these specific images, I really like the first two in the b/w version, but now that I see them in color, I'm doubly impressed. Really impressed. I like them much better. And the subtlety of the light in the second one is incredible.

More magic, Daniel. I like the top one especially.
Interesting about hand holding. I have the same experience, ie, great variation from lens to lens. Never thought about why really, but it is a curious thing.

Daniel: Thanks! These two are really cool. I'm partial to the color and framing of the first. The colored stage lighting and the natural spot lighting on the drummer really sing.

Matt, great shots in amazing colours! I don't know why we so often post in B&W, when colour versions add so much more

He was TOTALLY knitting a hat. One of the 109 things I love living in Boystown in Chicago, you see pretty much anything and everything!

Well, I figure there's not better way to figure out this M8 and 40 1.4 than to go out and use it on a job. Yep, lens showed up Friday, went out and used it Saturday morning.

I shot an event for a local charity's holiday party at Dave and Buster's which is an arcade restaurant. I had my usual kit (D3, D700, 70-200, 28-70) but also had my new to me M8 and 40 1.4. JUST WOW! ISO 1250 looked better than ISO 4000 on my D3 with the same light. Now the M8 shots... It was DARK in there as you can see from the second pic. All of these were available light, or lack there of ;-)

PS- Sorry about the size! Forgot to resize these!

Very nicely captured, Jason. Impressive IQ, especially under those conditions.

Thanks, Lloyd. Still learning the ropes, but I like what I'm seeing thus far.

    Learning fast, I'd say.

Watch out though, this Leica thing is a slippery slope.
