Great shots everyone I tried some "street" with the Elmar C 90 on the GXR yesterday.

Thanks, David. Wonderful shot, yourself. I love the B&W tones possible with the GXR, as well as the color caps....it does well overall as a well rounded camera!

Re: Fun with M Lenses on anything other then a Leica

Today I finally got around to making some CornerFix lens profiles with the Ricoh GXR A12 Mount lenses. I think it makes a huge difference to the CV15mm shots:

[I posted the uncorrected version of this one on page 1]

I haven't sharpened this one quite so much when I downsized it for export.

Ashwin, I found my dream set up with the GXR. CV15, Perar 35mm, Sonnar ZM 50mm, and Elmar C 90. The ultimate compact M system (think digital Leica CL). The Sonnar is a dream lens on the GXR with wonderful rendering, perfect size and weight. The faster and heavier lenses, Summicron 28mm, asph Summiluxes 35 and 50, Apo Summicron 90mm I prefer to use on the M9

Matt, great shots and wonderful colors. I'm really impressed how the 15mm performs and renders on the NEX5N (had the NEX5), there seem to be no corner performance or color issues or did you have to do some PP. Seems that the CV15 is a no brainer for NEX5N and GXR m-shooters. It's wonderful on the GXR. Ashwin better hurries before CV15 prices will go up.

    Matt,

At the resolution presented, this looks like a great body/lens combination!

Is that a slight color shift at the top corners of the under-the-bridge shot?

Also, are you getting any corner smearing (pixel peeping)?

Finally, have you done a side-by-side comparison with the Sony 16mm for sharpness & contrast across the image?

    Thanks, Alan

Retow/Carl: Good questions. The original files are still on my laptop. I'll look at them tomorrow. I don't recall doing anything extraordinary in pp or having issues with color, color shift, or corner smearing (doesn't mean it wasn't there!). It is a great combo with the 5N. What you see is what you get. I'll get back to you on this. I'm probably not going to like it as well on the M9 because I don't have any accessory viewfinder and guess at the framing.

That's a lens that's been showing up more lately. It seems to have a rich contrasty rendering. It's the usual question: "just how many 50mm lenses do you actually need?"

The answer is: Two. The Summilux 50 asph for its perfect rendering across the frame at all apertures, can't fault this one, and the compact Sonnar, for it's more dreamy look fully open and sharp, contrasty and colorfull Zeiss rendering stopped down. I will list my Titanium Summilux 50 in the b&s section soon.

These are a bit different in construction. Shot with a GH2, with a 53 year old Leica 90, mounted to a new macro tube I designed. These are the first two images ever shot using my "Charlie Tube™"

Retow/Carl: Here are some 'unprocessed' Sony NEX-5N and CV 15mm f/4.5 shots. 'Unprocessed' - converted to DNG with Lightroom 3.5 and then exported as jpegs, nothing other the Lightroom standard. I probably over processed them the first time! I don't see any issues, other then a little 'color shift' at the upper corners of the last two.

Re: Fun with M Lenses on anything other then a Leica

I got a WATE last night and wanted to try it out. I can see vignette at 16mm, but it could easily be fixed in post. I have not tried it out enough to draw any conclusions, but so far I'm happy.

Hi Cindy - Congratulations on the WATE - nice photo too
It seems to work well doesn't it - I haven't done anything serious, but I took a few shots and they all seemed to come out pretty good.

Thank you, Jono. I haven't had time to get out with it again, but yes, it seems to work great. There is a little vignette which could be easily fixed in post. I was expecting to have to use cornerfix, and am really happy to find that there is no color shift.

Cindy: That's a beautiful image. The colors are great. The 5N really does seem to work well with all Leica Glass.

VERY nice Cindy! I've been thinking the WATE just mite be the perfect lens for the 5N. Thanks for showing how well it works. I look forward to seeing more images with it as you get the chance to post.

Thanks Jono, I'm having a ball with the GXR + A12 Mount.

I took the GXR + A12M + CV Heliar 75.2.5 to a concert last night. It was ideal as I could stick it in my coat pocket. Quite pleased with the results, taken from about 4 rows back in the stalls. Cropped a little. Colour was fine, but I preferred the mono conversion.

Hi, don't mean to get off subject here but I have found myself not using my M9 as much as I used to, been shooting B&W film mainly and have been intrigued with the GXR M Mount. Some of the images I see here with GXR + Leica glass really surprise me. The $64k question is would I be happy replacing M9 with a GXR A12 M Mount? Would run in conjunction with M6 + Xpan?

    THanks, David...

Tough question, Hausen. I think you'd miss the M9...
