    Witty comment from Nikon

    Nikon

A photographer is only as good as the equipment he uses, and a good lens is essential to taking good pictures! Do any of our facebook fans use any of the NIKKOR lenses? Which is your favorite and what types of situations do you use it for?

Now we know why all Nikon shooters are such bad photographers.

    Haha wow...

Makes me feel a little dirty for owning a couple of Nikkors.

All technologies are extensions of man. For example, shoes are an extension of the feet. A lens is an extension of the eye.

Gear is not important to photographers that have limited or undecided pre-visualization ability. Since these folks cannot pre-visualize or percieve a photograph before it is taken, then they have no unique vision to extend. Technology is of no consequence to them and "gear doesn't matter."

But photographers that have strong pre-visualization ability must use the appropriate technology that is capable of extending their personal vision. For these photographers, gear is critical for determining the final outcome.

When a photographer claims that "gear doesn't matter"... he really means that he has no personal vision to extend so technology is irrelevant to his work.

Excellent observation. It is why a golfer does not use a persimmon driver anymore, or why a tennis player does not use a wood racquet from the 70's. Equipment does matter to a certain extent. Frank

    Excellently formulated, Mike

Persimmon drivers eh? They still make them, you know. Visiting this website, http://www.persimmongolf.co.uk/index.html almost makes me want to take up golf again. Those, some Mizuno blades and a Leica MP to match

Pity they don't make the E-type anymore...
