    Re-coating front element?

    Hi,

I came across an old Summicron f/2 and the front element is pretty scratched up. I am wondering if re-coating will better the situation? Has anyone done anything of this sort to comment?

    Thanks.

Focalpoint does this work, and I had them restore an early Thorium glass Summicron collapsible. With the increased cost of used Leica gear, very well worth the price.

The lens came back like new.

John is about to recoat my 90mm Tele-Elmarit 2.8, which suffers from a variety of problems. I am hopeful that his efforts will materially improve the lens performance.
