70 year old 50mm f/3.5 Elmar on the M8..

johnastovall

Deceased, but remembered fondly here...
Here is an image from a 1938 un-coated 50/3.5 Elmar (460xxx) on my M8.
It's headed to Sherry K for a full CLA.

John I had the 50 elmar 3.5
which everyone had a big laugh at
at the GET DPI New York Event / all the Boys with their
macho extensions :ROTFL:...lenses
but I must admit Charles 85 Summarex was Divine

I love the ELMARS and I LOVE even more the 35mm
Tiny & Sweet
The lens draws so crisp & renders black sooo black ...my Fav for B&W work
Truly Superb
Congrats on your new lens

Best- helen

For me, the first one is one of the best photos I've seen posted on the forum.

Helen, the two B&W's are the start of an an awesome series! And I have to admit I am somewhat surprised by how much contrast this uncoated lens shows!

Irony is I have one of these stuck on an old IIIf --- guess I need to yank it off and get it mounted on my M8 and try it out!

Helen, it almost looks as if you cut and paste the guy on black.

You girls can never leave a man in peace

I did not blush.

But seriously, everything about it works for me. Composition, relation between subjects, geometry, depth of field :salute:. And it's not just the same old type of photo.

You can't win.

BTW, many people commenting on your avatar. I think it looks very thespian. Like you're about to utter something of great profundity. DEFINITELY not Tom Jones.
