I was out roaming the country side of Ireland and stumbled across her. Being just a poor peasant girl she barely had any clothes on, was dragging a sack of potatoes and obviously needed some help from a gentleman like me. It looks like I will now be eating potatoes for a very long time.

    Peasants here in Ireland? Really?
Ireland is now a rich country, a transformation in the last few decades.

As the photos (all the above!) clearly show, the M10 Monochrom is certainly on my list of desirable cameras!

Thank you all for sharing in this new Covid-19 world in which we exist. There has to be good news somewhere! And I believe you guys have found a bit of joy.

If this review has been mentioned before, my apology. I happened upon it and thought it was interesting:

So far 50mm-wise I have used either my Summilux-M ASPH or ZM C-Sonnar. *Decided to put my elderly 5cm Summicron Collapsible LTM on the M10M this afternoon and go for a short local walk. Some results (with orange filter):-

A substantial crop from a wide-open (f2) 'grab' shot - M10M, 5cm Summicron Collapsible LTM. Pleasantly surprised at what a 1955 lens can achieve when mated with a 41MP sensor!

Three very disparate subjects from a local stroll Friday afternoon. 5cm Summicron Collapsible LTM (with orange filter) on M10M. The more I use this combination for countryside subjects, the more tempted I am to favour it over my 50mm Summilux-M ASPH and ZM C-Sonnar.

    A nice set up.
I had something similar for a while: an M246 and a LTM Summitar. The combination was great, but I didn't like the M viewfinder, nor the electronic one.

Keith, thanks for sharing this. I think it’s a wonderful combination. I have a 5cm Elmar LTM from 1959. It’s great for street, but no good for landscape as it won’t focus to infinity. And yes, it has a genuine Leica adapter and my other lenses are fine.

I keep looking at the first image of the hotel; it looks to me to show barrel distortion. Or is it just the extreme wide-angle view?

The heavily ivy-clad wall at far left is 'stepped' back part way up so the ivy could be disguising this. When imported into LR I used LR's 21-35mm Vario Elmar-R profile in 'Lens Correction' plus used the 'Auto' button in the Transform section in the Develop module so any distortions should have been dealt with.

Re: Fun with the Leica M Monochrom

Looking through the various (indeed, multitude) of photos taken with my M10M, I keep coming back to this one. Compositionally lacking, with nothing really for the eye to settle on I pondered on deleting it. But...

I could say it has been saved from the bin by the individual shapes of the leaves, their fine detail or the way the light falls - but what really makes it (for me) a keeper comes down to the tones and tonal transitions. Anyway, enough waffling. Thoughts?
