    Re: YES!

The store was the Leica Store, Washington, DC. I ordered with the Store Manager in the Leica Booth at Photokina on 18 September 10H00 or 10am. He would not accept any orders prior to that date. Since I was 6 hours ahead of US customers, I must assume I am 1 or 2 on his M list, although he won't say.

Thanks guys. I do have my Novoflex M to R adapter and you can bet it will get some serious use next week.

He will not tell me where I am on that list either, but I am definitely not as high as you. I went to the store in DC in person and ordered it October 7th or 8th.

Gosh, Greg, you could be 50 to 100 after "waiting" that long.

    Re: YES!

Yes, I know (probably some sarcasm in your comment there???), but after hearing all the talk about being beta testers for Leica, I'm not all that unhappy about getting one a few months later. For your sake, I hope they get it right from the beginning, and there is no reason they shouldn't. That is, if they learned anything about the introduction of the M8 and M9. I got one of the first H4D60s shipped, and it has worked flawlessly ever since.

I saw that and assumed the guy was so excited he forgot the microphone or it's a language barrier thing. Nice looking box and drawer. The charger footprint looks ever so large.

I guess I should have and maybe still can, but now I am tapped out, so free ground shipping sounds pretty good. Just joking.

I wish I could; I'm waiting to hear back from my dealer still. I would hope I'm somewhat high on the list as I talked to them about it last year during Photokina.

Congrats on yours though! That's awesome. We expect a full report.

I guess it could be heavy shoulders for me. Possible comparisons:

    M versus M9 obviously

    M versus MM obviously

M versus RX-1-it comes next week too.

    M versus 5D3

    M versus P45+ V mount

Oh my gosh, will I have any time to just out and shoot?

Wow, Lou, I can't wait to see those comparisons and those observations.... Enjoy the new toy, and if you report too positively on that new M, my funds may go away too LOL ... gosh, I do want to try the SA on the MM, but it's a beautiful and rightfully pricey lens...

    Lou,

I'm always down at the Leica store in D.C. I tried to tell them that Lou wanted me to open his M box and test it out for a few weeks before they ship it out to him (you)...but they weren't having any of that. I should have just grabbed the box and made a run for the Metro. On second thought, it's a good thing I didn't...otherwise I doubt I'd be shooting with any M body for decades to come...LOL!

P.S. Lou, I can add about 20 other cameras to add to that comparison list. I do expect all results to be turned in within 24 hrs of receiving you "M"

Hey Dave-Give me a break. The Winter days are short! I hate to have to do all those comparisons in darkness. Some cameras will have a noise reduction of more time than minutes in the day or night.

If I remember isn't the Metro a long jog from the store? You need to have a getaway car ready to at least get you to the Metro.

The first 2 letters are correct (Ma), but as we know that's only part of the equation and tomorrow is 5 letters long instead of 3 which means the wait is now shorter. I better stop before I get confused.

M240 vs RX1 would be interesting considering both are 24 mp.

Lou, Ok, you do deserve a break. How about you drive the getaway car? Oh wait, thats your camera I'm trying to make a run for. Guess time for another plan...LOL!

Agree. It could be meaningful. The 5D3 is FF and 22MP-close.

OK. I have changed my mind. It should be here tomorrow sometime. Sunset is a must and hope I can get some warm afternoon sunlight too.

Which lens should I use first? I am dying to try some R glass!

I guess it's confirmed the Olympus is pin compatible? I suppose Leica could have prevented the Olympus-branded EVF from working...

Does nr mean noise reduction? I'm guessing these are just in camera JPGs? Also I can't tell which one is considered the iso 3200 photo? The top right?

Thanks, and let us know what your impressions are.

    Re: YES!

FWIW, I got confirmation today that Leica has only shipped a relative handful of cameras. Some sales regions only were shipped one unit to the entire region. From the looks of things, they are being extremely cautious, in case there are unforeseen issues. I'm not the first person to state this here, of course. So, to all the early adopters...happy beta testing!

So, I guess it's no real surprise there is already an update...

    Re: YES!

I've heard a total of 150 units including demo units worldwide. But that seems awfully low. Especially if 15,000 pre-orders is true.

Thanks. Do a spell check on your headline.

So it seems all the lenses corrected are wide angle. Strange that came up now. Like Monza said us early adopters are Beta testers. I guess I'd rather be a Beta testers than no tester.

In France IF a dealer got a unit they are NOT allowed to sell it for 2-3 months and had to send the warranty card back to the importer. What crap. Control is still in their blood. So some are assuming they can sell the second unit, whenever that occurs!

    D'ohhh! Fixed, thanks.

Yeah, I saw that. I guess they forgot something or the beta tes... Err... Lucky first customers found something.

That's weird about France - was it always like that?

    Re: YES!

That makes some sense. Development, at least on the firmware side didn't end very long ago at all. The files are probably still warm...
