First of all sorry about your loss and I hope your insurance company covers it all. Second I hope the people responsible are caught and are served proper justice for pretty much being a nuisance and for general thievery.

Lastly (although the most important thing) I hope no one was hurt in the incident.

Hi Bart,

I am sorry about your misfortune.
That loss is terrible. I feel for you.
But don't let that theft get down your spirit.
Hopefully the stolen items can be recovered.

That's horrible! Property loss aside I hope everyone in your family is unhurt. Also, hopefully your insurance company will help you rebuild your fine collection of equipment.

That has to be heartbreaking. All the best with recovery, replacement, or whatever comes next.

Bart, it is sickening to thing about someone invading our privacy...but as others have stated, the safety and we'll being of your family takes precedence. I just hope all are OK. I'm sorry to hear of your loss and hopefully insurance will ease the pain of loosing your cherished items and that soon enough you're back to doing what you enjoy most.

Bart:

It saddens me very much to see this post. I enjoy your images and comments always laced with your joie de vivre.

I had my first serious camera stolen from my car along with several lenses (including a screw mount Pentax 20mm f/4.5 - loved that lens) many years ago.

I hope to see your images here in the near future.

Best,

Tom

Hi Bart,

Reading your post I could feel the pain in my stomach!
Hope you were insured.
Will keep an eye open on the usual places on the net (marktplaats etc)!
Did you also inform all the Dutch and German Leica dealers.
Maybe Leica in Wetzlar has some kind of system that can be used to alert/inform dealers?!

Good luck.

This is so so so sad. I do feel very sorry for you Bart.

When we are robbed our passion it is like someone is removing a vital part of our soul. It is a very big crime.

Having had a similar event many years ago you have my empathy. I felt violated after my gear was stolen. I wanted to find the SOB and wring his dirty little neck. He was arrested two days later but my gear had gone to a fence and was never seen again. I was covered by insurance, but I remained upset for quite a while.

So sorry for your loss here. I would post this on the buy and sell as stolen gear. This way folks looking for Leica gear and will see this posted in there searching and may just happen upon it. I would also do the same on other forums.

Man, I feel your pain, that was an awful lot of gear to lose in one go :(
Last summer the same thing happened to me although in a far smaller scale, and I'm still angry
I was even at home when the burglar broke into our house, but unfortunately I didn't hear him.
I really wish you good luck, Bart, with the insurance process you have to go through now. It's no fun.
